Hi guys.

Berlidders, some private endos require a referral letter from a GP but others will accept self referrals. Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of member recommended endos and check with their offices whether referral is required.
Also remember you can get blood tests and even ultrasound tests done privately without going through a doctor at all. There is a list on the Thyroid UK site.
Great stuff. I will wait for my blood results first. My GP said he would refer based on that. But as we know that is open to debate as to what is 'normal'
Hi, An endo is a consultant and you cannot self refer to any consultant. Any doctor needs to refer you.

Private doctors can and do take patients without GP referral.
Great. Thank you everyone for your reply. I guess I'm antipcating that my GP won't refer me, so am thinking of all the available pathways if my blood tests comeback not happy x
