If you see a Consultant privately that doesn’t do NHS work is he able to recommend medication for me to my Gp? I do currently get T4 & T3 but need to see another Endo but he only does private work.

Question re Private Only Endo
It rather depends how your GP feels about it, they aren't obliged to listen to private anythings, can you not find another NHS one?
Are you already getting T3 on NHS ?
I would stick with NHS endo who prescribes T3 rare as hens teeth. Sounds like he needs a new secretary.
Your GP is not obliged to follow a private endo’s advice. I see a private guy and have had problems with my GP prescribing even T4. They won’t endorse T3 at all. I have to pay for it myself.
I’ve had very positive results from consulting with my private only Endocrinologist. My NHS GP and NHS Endo jump if I mention his name. I got T3 liothyronine privately through him then the NHS who had refused even a trial for myself for ages agreed to supply once my private only Endo contacted him. 4 years on I remain having an annual consultation with my private Endo as I feel he is my safety net. I still consult 6 monthly with my NHS Endo for the NHS T3 prescriptions. What has helped significantly in obtaining T3 is my TSH is not suppressed. T4 and T3 levels are optimal. More importantly I feel energised and getting younger each day since I started t3. I’m a very poor converter t4 to t3. And gene DIO2 positive tested.
Sounds like the typing pool who are at fault not your Endo. Might be worth explaining this to your GP. They can chase up letter. Often they receive an electronic letter way ahead of those sent in post. Have you checked your medical file on the NHS app?I wouldn't turn over your NHS Endo if he is good because of the typing pool. If GP can't increase until they receive a letter either hard copy or electronic I would point this out to his secretary and saying you have been waiting over two months now. And point out your date to see Endo again if you have one. It happened to me once.... Mine had a 6 week backlog of letters... Not as bad as yours!!
Your GP is not obliged to follow advice of private Endo. You have to see a NHS Endo to get T3 or NDT prescribed on the NHS. If its already prescribed and you are stable thry may accept advice from a private Endo but may not.
