Kerry290687, reduce Levothyroxine by 50mcg and start with half a grain (30mg) Thyroid-S. Stop the Levothyroxine after 2 weeks and increase Thyroid-S to one grain. If you need to increase further do so in half grain increments until you are taking 2 grains. Hold at 2 grains for 4-6 weeks and have an FT3 test before increasing further.
Start off n a low dose and build up over several months. Personaly I dropped levo completely for 2 weeks as it stays in the body for a long time (up to 5 weeks) .
I just substituted one pill of Thiroyd for 50mcg of my Levothyroxine. It was fine - I could hardly tell the difference. Thiroyd contains mostly T4 plus a bit of T3. If you feel overmedicated (fast pulse, sweating , loose bowels) you can cut down a bit. However I do realise that everyone is different and many people are more sensitive to changes than I seem to be.
I take the Thiroyd in the morning and the Levo last thing at night because I was worried the T3 might keep me awake. I would like to take it all at night really.
