GILL, what are you taking? The last three tests are good. Funny that your fT4 is above range but your fT3 is kind of middling. A person could feel fine though with this situation since the T3 is being used inside of the cells.

How do you feel?

Normal healthy people usually have fT3 from 5.2 to 5.8. But their fT4 is usually around 13, 14, 15, 16..... not over range.

What supps are you taking and how do you describe your diet?

Ok ...whole history as I am now a total complete utter mess.

Four years ago after years of fatigue and minor illness, dianosed Hashimotos, medicated 100mg Levothyroxine. Terrible tremours, banging heart, etc.

Moaned to Doc, referred to endo who gave me complete control to experiment with med dosage. Over next 3 years established I could only manage on 125-150mg but heart continued to bang and crash away and all other horrid hypothyroid symptoms gradually getting worse & worse. I acquired some knowledge on other meds by now and asked several times for T3 to be added. I don't fully understand about all these meds but thought It may help with a conversion problem.

Bone scan revealed a substantial bone loss, kidney test came out boarderline function, strange unusual iron levels but ferratin ok ( I suspect I have Hemochromotosis as it is a genetic disease and our family has it so got two months wait for heamatologist appointment.) Also had massive thirst thing going on for about two years now.

Trying to help myself I recently contacted Dr P re the addition of glandulars. This has involved stopping T4 for 7 days and then on day 8 introducing NAX. On day 10 introducing 50mg T4 & NT. After one night I was floating and on the second night I suffered a huge psychotic episode all accompanied by the usual banging heart. That was two nights ago and I haven't taken any Nutri stuff since. I also haven't slept at all! Dr P is away until next week so I put myself back on 50 mg T4 as realise I can't have nothing.

Throughout the whole 4 years of Levothroxine my heart has danced, banged and generally made up a different beat pattern most nights. I lead a very healthy life style and eat a gluten free diet. My sups are all Solgar or Lambert. I have done everything I can do and Just can't have it anymore so am desperately looking at alternatives and not doing too well at it. The only good thing to come out of all this is my brain fog has cleared for the moment and hence I'm posting again.

If my test results are as good as you say do you think I have a conversion problem that the addition of T3 will help?

Gill, Low TSH + high FT4 + low FT3 = conversion problem and the addition of some T3 should help. I found T3 calmed the adverse effects I had from T4 only too.

in reply toClutter

Do you think it will stop my heart jumping about. I just can't stand it any more. It is so frightening.

Gill, it calmed mine and a host of other unpleasant effects.

Can I pm you please?

GILL, has the hemochromatosis been under control because iron overload can damage the heart.

What was your dose of thyroid for that blood test you reported?

in reply togabkad

125mg

Two month wait for haematologist appointment.

gabkad in reply to

I would try 100 mcg T4 plus 5 mcg T3. That will raise your T3 and get your T4 down.

However your cardiac symptoms are troubling. Have you had an ECG done? If the hemochromatosis has resulted in some congestive heart failure (and your kidney function indicates that possibly there is more going on here than just thyroid) then a full cardiac workup is necessary.

I feel very very ill and was hoping to schedule an appointment with a private endo tomorrow.

There is something really strange going on and I feel so strange with big heart bangs and little tremors and rushes in my head. I had it all night and can't face another night like it. It is so scary. Considering ringing 111 at moment.

I was exactly like that. Was messed about for over a year keep lowering levo until I finally saw endo privately.

She confirmed conversion problem and put me on combo.

Now she's put me on ndt which my Gp now prescribes.

My physical problem was anxious somersaulting tummy.

Gill I am wondering if you are magnesium short as you say you are having banging heart especially at night. I notice you are not taking any selenium, calcium and vitamin K2 with your supplements. Also fish oil dose ideally should be 1000mgs 4 times a day. Vit B50 would be an ideal dose 1 - 3 times a day. Not sure what Lamberts Fema 45+ Multivitamin & Mineral has in it, I will look. Also an adaptogen herb my help.

thought your results look like a conversion problem too, see you tried T4 & NT together, NT nutriThyroid (not natureThroid).

Could be an underlying adrenal problem? high cortisol levels (I think) can lead to pre-diabetes - I can't get my head around adrenal stuff but I should as I hate palpitations & jitters get worse - sometimes I think I'd rather continue being half asleep, much easier!

I thought Dr P used to say 2 weeks on NutriAdrenal then introduce NutriThyroid. I tried them and they helped a bit, but wasn't diagnosed at the time. Maybe your high iron could affect things too, I don't know.

I'm thinking about getting a adrenal saliva test £79 thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

not sure what to do next 'tho, if the GP would take notice! J :D

in reply toSpareribs

I have done the cortisol saliva test but waiting on results,

You cut from 125mcg levo to none for 10 days? Yes Levo stays in the system but I think your poor bod will be in a state of shock, no wonder you feel poorly... please get checked out if it gets worse - (hugs) J

in reply toSpareribs

Yes I will as everything is so much worse. Have put myself back on 125mg Levothyroxine.

Free Triiodothyronine Has a Distinct Circadian

Rhythm That Is Delayed but Parallels Thyrotropin

Levels

Check out the graphs in the study.

I don't think any of us who have been hypo for many decades and been on replacement can achieve the ratios normal people have. For example, when my own fT4 and fT3 with T4/ T3 resembles a normal person's my TSH would never be 1.4. It's down at 0.5. If my TSH would go to 1.4, my fT4 and fT3 would be both of them below range.

Not what you're looking for?
