B Complex usually does not contain as much B12 as a sublingual B12 methylcobalamin tablet. Also the B complexes I've seen contain cyanocobalamin. This can be problematic if a person does not absorb B12 well from the intestine. Or they don't convert the cyano- into the methyl- efficiently in the liver.

Usually, if someone's B12 is not optimal, then it's a good idea to take both a sublingual/or spray of methylcobalamin PLUS a B Complex. The other B vitamins are easier to absorb and it's a good thing to supplement in a balanced way.

Depending on how low your B12 results are, you can take anywhere from 1000 mcg to 5,000 mcg methylcobalamin per day. Excess is excreted in the urine so there is not danger of overdose.

It's better to take a B Complex broad spectrum supplement as the thyroid in all its processes from the pituitary to the cells requires about 5 B Vitamins in addition to selenium vitamins A,C,E Zinc and Magnesium. That said it's just as important to get the most bioavailable form that the body can use, or you can be fighting a losing battle and not realise it...

Hope that helps...

Guysgrams, if your B12 is <500 supplement methylcobalamin sublingual lozenges, spray or patch plus B Complex to keep the other B vitamins balanced. If you don't need to supplement B12 just take the B Complex.

I agree with the others. I've always read to combine all b vitamins when high dosing one of them.

I take sublingual B12 with no problem, but I have yet to find a B Complex yhat doesn't upset my stomach and make me feel toxic:/ I have to avoid yeast and try not to take anything with too many fillers. So any recommendations would be very useful! Thankyou.
