Vitimin c Underactive thyroid

I've heard lots about the benifit of taking vitmin c with thyroxine

I have taken 1000mg in dissolvable form in the past is that the right dose to take?

Wayne, it's a good dose and there is research stating it aids absorption of thyroxine. I take 1,000mg chewable which suits me but I know some members take up to 3,000mg daily.

If it is pure ascorbic acid, fine. But if it is a more complex form (e.g. chewable with orange flavours and sweeteners), well, that is not what was used in the reported papers. It might not be such a good idea.

Sorry Wayne, I muddled that. If, as Helvella says, you are using the powder form dissolved in water it's fine to wash your Levothyroxine down with it. I take my chewable vitC many hours after my Levothyroxine.

Taking the tablets that desolve in water is that ok?
