Hi there, I got my blood results taken 12wks after having RAI....the t4 is 11.5 and apparently tsh is 41.40??? Would that be right? Doc did say she was concerned about the significant change however there is no t3 result!! She has increased my levothyroxine from 100mg to 125....does this seem right?
My previous t4 was 7.6 and tsh was 6.7....this was 6wks ago

Georgiego, TSH is very high but the increased dose should lower it. You may need a further increase so have another blood test in 4/6 weeks. Increases/decreases are usually in 25mcg increments so it takes time to stabilise things. As your TSH decreases your FT4 and FT3 will improve. Labs don't usually test FT3 unless TSH is suppressed <0.03.
Please be very cautious if you drive. TSH >20 has been shown to impair driving reactions more than being over the drink drive limit.
Take your Levothyroxine with a full glass of water on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after food and drink, two hours away from other medication and supplements and four hours away from calcium, iron and oestrogen.
Thanks so much for your advice clutter. My brain reactions have def slowed down so I appreciate your advice about driving and how to take the thyroxine hopefully I can only get better x
Georgiego, You will feel better as the increased Levothyroxine kicks in. Just be kind to yourself and don't overdo things for a couple of weeks until it does.
