Breathless and wheezy

I am on 3g Nature Throid and 50mcg Liothyronine, i still have a very wheezy chest and rely heavily on my blue pump. Asthma was ruled out on 2 occasions, should these symptoms get better with an increased dose? increase nature throid or Liothyronine, any advice welcome x

Have you had chest x-rays to rule out fluid, infection or obstruction or Spirometry to test lung function?

Shortness of breath is certainly a symptom of under medicated hypothyroidism but you're taking quite a lot of thyroid replacement. Why do you think increasing your medication might help?

You might want to try eliminating dairy and milk for a few weeks to see if the wheeziness improves.

Hi Clutter, as iv had no relief from these symptoms and i understand they could be hypo related i thought maybe i am still under medicated ? I will definitely try eliminating dairy and milk, had no idea this could possibly help, i will try anything, thank you, Denise

Denise, The best way to check if you're optimally medicated is to have a thyroid blood test and do bear in mind that wheeziness might not be hypothyroid related. Are you flying solo or is your GP monitoring you?

Magnesium citrate will be easiest to absorbe. You ought to take zinc with magnesium as they're co-dependant.

Hi Clutter , I am flying solo since the loss of Dr Skinner, thought I was doing fine but the wheeziness isn't budging neither is swollen ankles!! Will definitely try the magnesium - thank you x

Maybe another 1/4 grain would help your swollen ankles. That'll be awful when the warm weather arrives this weekend. Do you monitor bloods or just dose by symptoms?

Hi, i haven't had any bloods checked for about 18 months, I'm just going by symptoms, but regularly check my bp and heart rate , yes, i am so dreading showing my feet!!

Lol! I was thinking of your discomfort not how they look.

Are you aware that you can order thyroid tests from Blue Horizon & Genova, Denise. You can post them and we'll interpret if you need help?

Hi there are not actually uncomfortable but extremely ugly - i have 2 large lumps below each ankle! Yes i think i will go down the `Blue Horizon route, thank you for all your advice xx

That's a good idea, but I hope you've seen your GP about your wheezng and swollen ankles too, just in case they're not thyroid related :)

Yes i pointed out my ankles and asked about heart failure but he was pretty adamant that it wasn't that (which was a huge relief!!) I need to go back about my chest - i thought it would have eased a lot by now. Thanks again Clutter x

Have you tried taking magnesium supplement, i too get breathless, heavy chest feeling, the feeling of air hunger and got told about magnesium deficiency. it can cause depression and gets depleted by medication stress etc so ive started to add it to my daily dose of supplements and have to say i feel its improving, maybe mind over matter but im going to continue as feel alot better! Hope this helps xx

Exactly how I feel about magnesium - mind over matter. But it works to help me sleep better, so I believe in it. Janet.
