I haven't taken Nature Throid myself but a lot of problems have been reported with it. The STTM claims it was reformulated much like Armour was (increase in cellulose content).

It seems all brands of NDT are now working less well for some reason...either due to reformulations or a change in production methods.

Thanks for your reply.

I am pondering whether to go back on it??

I could self medicate ;( l have some at home) or see endo privately who originally supported me on it. ( he had to withdraw support on nhs for patients on ndt/t3!

Are you aware of whether WP thyroid has the same feedback from people?

in reply to Lavender-Blue

Yes, WP is reportedly also working less well nowadays.

Have you considered trying Thyroid-S from Thailand or a supplement such as Metavive?

No, l haven't looked into those two meds, do they have any positive/negatives that you are aware of being reported?

Do you take any if these; if so what is your experience?

I have been on Thyroid-S since 2014 (before that three years on Armour and Erfa) and it works well. I'm not too happy about all the fillers, but it seems to be the best brand of NDT available right now. It has worked better for me than both Armour and Erfa.

I recently ordered Metavive which is available as 15 and 30 mg capsules. That makes it easier to tweak my dose since Thyroid-S only comes in 60 mg pills. It seems to work very well.

I will have a look at that! Good to hear positives!

Thank you for your sharing. X

It is the only brand I have ever been on (started this summer), so hard to compare. It is doing something, as feeling somewhat better. Only recently increased my dose from 1/2 grain to 3/4 of a grain and the difference was noticeable very soon, so it is doing something. The million dollar question of course, whether it could do more. Spoke to local pharmacist and all he said was there had never been any formal notification of a defective batch. Who knows whether he would be in a position to comment, if lots of people had noticed a change. I would like to think he would. My doctor (UK) continues to approve of it. Again, I would think, he would notice if lots of his long term patients are going down hill on it.

PS: I often wonder whether we see a slant to the negative on a health forum like this. There are some great contributors and administrators, who may also be doing well health wise by now. And massive thanks to them! I would guess though that lots of us are reading around because we are not well (yet). So, the people who are doing fine, are possibly less likely to be spending a lot of time on health forums. Just thought I add that thought, if you are not getting many responses from people who are doing well on it!

Good point and thank you.

When I was doing well, admittedly I spent less time on the forum posting, but very interested in reading people's experiences.

Hi Lavender-Blue, have you taken Nature-Throid before? It was working just fine for me for about two years, but I started going downhill on it last December, and I continued to do badly on it (unaware it was due to the drug) until June of this year, when I found out on the STTM site that it had been reformulated.

I have since read new reviews that patients are doing well on it again, and that the manufacturer reverted back to their old formulation, but I have no idea if that's true or not. Personally, I wouldn't go back on it until I am certain it is working again.

Hi. I have been on nature-throid for the past 8/9 years. I am still fine on it!

Thank you, that is really refreshing to hear, really considering going back on it.

If you do, please let us know how it's working out for you.

Yes, I will do. Thanks.

Seems like all the ndt's have had an alteration of some sort and don't work the same. I've tried erfa years ago then they messed with that, nature Thyroid was the best and was on it a few years untill I started having flare ups on it. I've hashimotos. I don't like all I've read on ndt's of late and wouldn't risk trying them because too much at stake.
