Good news & bad news

So the good news is my GP has convinced the lab to test my T3 :) the bad news is I am vitamin D deficient :(

My TSH was 11.2 (0.30-6.00)

T4 15.8 (10.0-22.00) tested on 31/1/14

Awful Hypo and Anxiety symptoms.

It has been suggested that I may be producing too much RT3....

Any thoughts folks?

Poo, shame you're deficient, but great to know what's wrong and be able to fix it! Dosing guidelines here (if your gp isn't helpful/knowledgeable): imperialendo.com/for-doctor...

Your tsh is of course high, but high enough for your doc to agree to do something about it. Like you I had terrible anxiety when ht. Really terrible - shaking, fist-clenching, stomach-grinding anxiety.

Wish I could help re rt3 but I don't know much about it. Impressed that your gp is saying this though (if it is your gp) - it seems like something a lot of docs wouldn't think of.

Hi puncturedbicycle no it's not my GP regarding RT3 no doubt I will have to enlighten him when I see him next! Ha ha

He is great though and seems really open to suggestion and takes in all the information I'm giving him. I'll have a look at the link you've sent regarding dosage, thanks so much :)

Good to hear you have a good gp. Have a look at the link and see what's the best way forward for you. My vit d was so low - 10 I think? - that I needed a loading dose (off my own back no thanks to useless gp), which didn't really do much - it went up to 50ish - but then it seemed to resolve of its own accord after time abroad in sunnier climes.

Hope you see some improvement after your levels are better. What does your gp say about your ht? Are you going to get levo?

Good luck. :-)

I am already taking 100mcg of Levothtroxine daily....have done for the past 10 years, there seems to be a problem either with me converting T4 to T3 or under medicated x

You will find this website useful;

thyroid-rt3.com/index.htm

You will find mention of a RT3 Yahoo Group which you can join for advice.

I have cleared any RT3 using a small does of NDT and T3 meds. I gave it about 12 weeks to be sure that it had cleared - Maddie
