Today I would like to share some good news. A year ago (on T4 only) my GFR, indicating the kidneys filtering ability, was quite a bit below the normal interval, whereas the LDL cholesterol was way up. I have been taking Liothyronine now for a year and recently had a whole battery of tests done. My GFR is now well positioned within the interval and my LDL has dropped significantly, now being just a bit above interval. Generally I feel a whole lot better, although there is still room for improvement in some areas (that just means I need to keep at it).
I would like to profusely thank everybody here for their support. I am so grateful to have found this place of encouragement and solidarity. My special thanks goes to the member who provided me with information on a healthcare provider in my area who has brought such positive change to my life. Thank you so very much to all for your loving care.

I definitely had times when I wanted to just roll over and die. This forum has been such a rock of support for me. It kept me going. And sometimes it's good to commiserate, even if it leads to no immediate solution. I never felt alone here.
I added only 5mcg of Lio to a lowered dose of Levo (now 75 mcg). Took a little bit of experimenting, but this seems to be a good combination. The TSH is a gp's nightmare, though.
Yup, my gp's TSH nightmare is going in the opposite direction from yours.
Assuming that this combination is working very well for you, it shows how complex this all is and the need for different approaches depending on the individual.
I instantly got Are you taking that Thai NDT & not my prescription? ('I wish', under my breath). Are you missing days taking it? Are you really taking my prescription? Laughing. Priceless. Yes sir, I begged for liothyronine and then I just didn't take it. That sounds right.
I had a TSH of 32 on three grains of NDT and felt the best of anything else, besides rapid weight gain. And then customs was bored and decided to seize one bottle of it while others smuggle truly dangerous crap.
Okay I have totally taken your celebration off topic, Buddy. Smiling. Whoopsie. But it is crazy what we go through.
Sharing all the crazy stuff we have to deal with is part of this community. I think we can always celebrate each other, no matter what, because we are all fighters and supporters.
How are you feeling now? This really is an insane TSH!
I would go with better than the hellish effects of the high amount of levothyroxine only I was on, but certainly not what I want for my life.
Here's to more plodding along, and the great education here.
And also I recently fell into an endocrinologist that actually listens and has been open to options. So extremely grateful & wonderfully shocked. I came out of a thyroidectomy with an endocrinologist, when asked about NDT & Cytomel/T3 levels answered, "All my patients are on Synthroid only and are all doing just fine."
Sharing is so very important in helping people make sense of what is happening to them, but just don't use on line advice in place of your doctor and don't let your doctor play God either. Always happy to read about someone feeling better! Continued improving health is my wish for you!
I'd be interested to know what part of the country you are in. If you are anywhere near London/South East, would you be so kind to PM me your specialist's details .... sounds as though this specialist may well be who I should see.
I'm very sorry. I'm in a different country altogether. I live in Winnipeg (also known as Winterpeg), Canada. I would have loved to help you with this. Somebody else here, I hope, will be able to
