My GP was supportive of my treating myself after the death of Dr S and said the surgery would do blood tests to make sure I don't become overactive. I have ordered my thyroxine on-line last tuesday and still waiting. I have my last available meds tonight and wondering what to do. I was really shocked by the price of internet thyroxine and wondering if I've been ripped off. Has anybody ordered on-line?

Why are you having to buy your own thyroxine? It is available here free on the NHS, unlike some other thyroid meds. It is also very cheap. Your doc can give you an immediate prescription and you can get it tomorrow.
I suggest you call your GP and ask for this and also explain you have none to use until your order arrives. She should put you on repeat prescription programme and you will be able to reorder automatically in future. Hope you get help soon. xx

NDT is expensive and that is why most doctors refuse to prescribe it although there is no legal reason why they can't!! I'm one of the lucky ones to get my NDT on NHS prescription - for as long as the endo is at the hospital I use, if and when he moves on I will have to buy my own, the GP refuses to prescribe because of cost. Don't worry if you don't have any for a few days, just take your normal dose when it does arrive. If its more than a week I would start again on a low dose and build up over a couple of months.
P S don't let the GP dictate as to whether you are over or under active, you will know by how you feel!! The numbers are not as relevant as your life!!
Your gp is not being supportive. Remember they get funding points for you having thyroid disease, NOT for treating you. So i am sure your nhs gp is delighted you are sourcing your own meds - less hassle for them and they still get the funding point from the PCT.
If your GP really cared, he/she would be getting ndt for you on the nhs.
If you are on levo - there is NO reason you should be self sourcing and funding.
I Really Don't Understand My GP
i am using thyroxine 100mcg tablet but till now i couldnt reduced my weight
GP wants to stop my Thyroxine I am on 25mgs and have asked for it to be increased.
