liquid thyroxine

my gp has just put me on liquid thyroxine, havent started it yet. would like to know if anyone else has tried this. tablet form does not seem to suit me. i am also on t3 from gp.

Hi...yes, I have tried it. I also do not get along with levo (now going to try armour). I did try the liquid but it was far too powerful for me. As it is liquid, it absorbs very very quickly into your system. I was getting severe palpitations and could not tolerate even a 5mcg dose. Had to come off it. My advice is to take a very small dose first and test your body's tolerance levels before building up.

I had no problem with it apart from the fact that you need to collect it every 3 weeks as it does not have a long shelf life!!

Yes I am on liquid eltroxin. I developed an allergy to the maize starch in tablets which led to a rash all over my body. It took some time to work it out and then some persuasion to get a prescription for the liquid but since being on it my skin has been right as rain! Bit of a problem with last prescription as the supplier my pharmacy uses was having trouble getting hold of it. I get a prescription for 3 bottles at a time which is approximately 9 weeks worth.
