I have high serum folate, low iron and b12 within range. Should I still supplement b12 as mentioned in earlier answer to another member.

High everyone, in the search to feel better I am on various supplements. I have low white blood count and low neutrofil count which suggests an auto immune problem? Have never had Lymmes disease as far as aware no ticks on my body!

Serum iron level is low 11 (14-29)

low transferrin saturation index 16 (20 - 40)

serum transferrin is high 2.71 (1.6 -2.7)

B12 is normal 493 (120 - 625)

Serum folate is high 24.3 (4.6 - 18.7)

I have been on Vit B complex supplements - should I still supplement vit b12? Have stooped the vit b complex for now.

Have symptoms of Hypothyroid problems (carpel tunnel, tinnitus, aches and pains sacoilliitus and foot pain) and am trying to sort it. Doctor says not a thyroid problem but when I read this forum it seems so relevant to me. Good to have it here to read with you all.

If you can get a print-out of your thyroid gland blood tests complete with the ranges and post on another question, someone will comment. It's a pity many GP's don't know and wont prescribe on clinical symptoms.

With that high Folate result [I have >20.] it could be you're not utilising the B12.

Your lab B12 range seems low- in Japan the minimium for over 60's is 500 though your actual reading is upper range which is OK,

Possibly you've been overdoing the Folate supplement , but I don't think this will help B12 directly.

There's not much info about on this- are you vegetarian?

You need to get tested for Thyroid function -if not already done.

If you do get on treatment ,eventually, your Iron will need lifting as this is important for T4 use but someone else will have to say whether the index value affects this.

Ask your Dr how he/she knows what the problem is without testing!
