Although your post isn't terribly clear, from what I can make out, your TSH is far too high and your T4 looks low. Do you have ranges for these results? Different labs have different ranges. Are you being treated at all?

Hi pawpaw,

This has come out a bit confusing. Trying to sort it out:

6/1/12 is T4 9.6 and TSH 11.38

21/2/12 is T4 8.9 and TSH 3.53

5/2/13 is T4 8.5 and TSH 17.52

21/6/13 is T4 8.8 and TSH 28.36

Apart from a slightly dodgy TSH of 3.53 on 21/2/12, (possibly should be 13.53?) you look as if your T4 is going steadily down and your TSH is going steadily up. This is despite as steady dose of thyroxine, isn't it? Are you still on 75mcg? I assume that you are still having hypo symptoms, too.

I know you have several issues such as being on Lithium for Bipolar - which has been discussed and I know you were very encouraged by the experiences of others.

I also know that you were waiting for a scan on a lump - have you had that done yet?

Even without the ranges, these figures do indicate a deterioration in thyroid function, which might be due to the lithium, or it could be that your thyroid is getting worse independent of the lithium. Has your GP suggested raising your Levothyroxine dose? you must be finding it quite hard to function, looking at those results.

As you know, untreated or undertreated thyroid problems can cause symptoms of mental illness, so they really need to get your thyroid problem sorted out. This means an increase in your thyroxine to see how you go. 75mcg is clearly not bringing the hypothyroidism under control.

Do you have an appointment to discuss this with your GP? If not, it might be an idea to arrange to see him/her.

gp said last week we will put you on 75mcg , repeat bloods in now 7weeks and I am to see him after to discuss scan and blood test findings .

that's all I was given . on levothyroxine wich was increased from 50 mg to 75mg last week , also on 600mg of lithium for bipolar disorder , my blood lithium has gone up from 0.63 to 0.84 since feb . have croaky voice and my thyroid is swollen , having ultra sound next wed . my bipolar consultant isn't getting back to me despite these lastest test results and whats going on . I never had any problems with thyroid until last april , no family history of it either. they are checking it all again in 7 weeks. and also doing ferritin and b.12 but I had to ask for that to be addad as they don't check it usually. my throat hurts around the swelling and inside

thankyou . I got those in a print out yesterday from nurse at doctors surgery. last years results were pre- diagnosis
