Feeling Miserable on NDT/Levo, at my wit's end, please help me:

Hey friends, I'm new here and I'm excited to be involved.... long story short, I had a TT due to Thyca last November, RAI in January. Started on 150 Levoxyl with Cytomel and switched to Synthroid, ultimately to Tirosint 137 which I just never felt good on. July I started Naturethroid an a month ago added in 25 mcg levo to my 2 grains of NT. The past month expecially I have had the WORST aches, stuffy sinuses, but insomnia has been the worst since NDT. I've alternated dosages and felt hypo and then hyper and my FT4 has been long on NDT alone.... but I honestly just want to suffocate myself. I'm wondering if maybe my body needed more time on levo alone... I was told I wasn't a good converter but maybe I just needed more time... or maybe more T4 with less T3? I am so depressed and I am jolted after five hours of sleep a night now... and I think it's because my TSH is beyond in hypers-ville, but I am miserable, sick, and need advice. Has anyone switched and felt ok? I feel like a lot of those I talk to taking NDT are kinda' cult-ish and are quick to attack one when they say they don't feel good. And my vitamins and minerals are good. My life went downhill only once getting on hormone therapy F/T... even the six week prior to RAI, I was on Cytomel only and felt ok. But now? I look like a monster.

Please help.

You have been messed about! Perhaps you need to stick with one medication for a while. How do you know you convert badly?.Truly there is no cult concerning NDT. I am trying to use it myself after being on Levo for 14 years. This site will give you great advice, so stick with it and give your body time to adjust. I had thyca 15 years ago and all that went with it, so I do understand. Best wishes.

Hey there! Well, I haven’t been on NDT in a couple of years and found mixing the two was a bad, bad mix for me personally.... I went onto a compounded version of T4 over a year ago but just recently posted about creeping TSH levels so once again am switching to a new brand and formula... what medicine are you on currently?

Disappointed with your reply, I was hoping you were going to tell me that you were well and running marathons misscliocat !!! I am currently on TR Mann, my third week, not sure about it, but feel it is a tad better than Naturethroid. I have dreadful vertigo, worse hearing loss/tinnitus. However, not sure if it is just a coincidence. I am plodding on, as I have bought enough to last me for a very long time.

Ohhh, I’ve had terrible tinnitus since my RAI... actually, pre-RAI when my TSH went up to 125 for treatment and it has not subsided.... I did love Naturthroid for a minute but sometimes it felt like a Ferrari when all I needed was a car, if that makes sense.... I felt the T3 was too immediate for me and I would get light headed and feel spacy often on it often, hence trying to integrate the at4 as well.... which was a non-positive experience.... I wonder if the T3 is too much and the lack of T4 is what’s causing the tinnitus for you? I just felt for me, at least, I needed more T4 for my body to digest something.... hence back on synthetic and even though I’ve romanticized the NDT life again, I don’t think I could do it.... please keep me posted!

misscliocat Sorry I didn't register, that you had thyroid cancer like myself, so no thyroid. I too am supposed to be a bad converter, and din't get on Levo' at all. No sleep/constipation.....

Please be kind to yourself. The thyroid is such an important gland in our body - does so many things. You experience physical and psychological symptoms and can feel really low. Please please take care of yourself, you are not alone.
