Walking, climbing steps, touching your toes, rubbing your tummy in a circular motion (there are videos on the internet that show the rubbing of stomach for gas, etc.) warm heating pad, as well as remember mobility is always your friend.

Drinking warm teas like Chamomile (caffeine free) Smooth Move or Senna tea may help. Also, a muscle relaxant prescription.

Have you tried a course of antibiotics. All that gas is probably due to bacteria fermentation. Ask your GP.

I take peppermint tablets but the biggest thing that helped me was changing my tea to decaffeinated. I’m not saying I don’t get gas but it is very rare now. I hope you find something that works for you.

Hi Just wondering if you have what feels like trapped painful wind or excess gas / wind. Mine is the former and can go on for days. I have found several particular triggers but they are usually fodmap related. I have cut out a lot of these from my diet and feel it has made a difference. Also peppermint, ginger, chamomile and artichoke leaf can all be helpful to ease the hypersensitivity. However if this is excess wind , Windeaze might help, but it doesn’t help me, ☹️

I found that too much sugar in my diet and eating too quickly, which resulted in me swallowing too much air, caused painful wind. It's not just sweets and biscuits but the number of sugars you put in your tea and coffee as well as hidden sugars in processed food that you need to be aware of.

You may think that you don't have a lot of sugar daily but if you write down each day the things you have eaten or drunk that have sugar in them, you maybe surprised at how much sugar you are actually consuming.

As for eating too quickly, I now try and to bite down on my food 30 times before swallowing or as many times as I can, depending on what I'm eating .

I know this might seem a lot of trouble to go through for wind but you may be lucky like me and lose weight. I ended up losing 1.5 stones, without even trying.

I hooe this helos you.😀

I have found warm baths help me if I have wind that won't shift. My body seems to do the trick itself though and for some odd reason, lets out almost ALL my gas in the morning as soon as I get out of bed.

Trapped wind is no joke and really painful. Warmth.... tummy massage, lying flat on the floor, relaxing totally with just something to support the neck and head... a homeopathic remedy called "Carbo Veg"...warm baths... food grade peppermint oil (1 or 2 drops in a cup of hot boiled water, have all helped me whenever trapped wind happens, Carbo Veg worked like magic in about 20 minutes.

Generally gentle exercise like daily walks help, but if a trapped wind episode is happening walking won't usually relieve it. But the other things have a good chance.

hi. I was the same - constantly full of gas - I thought I’d just take off if someone stuck a pin in me! Then a very kind urology consultant suggested I gave up dairy which I did and it’s a lot better now - he said if this didn’t help to give up wheat too ..

Apologies - I meant this for Grace 606!

I hope you can feel positive.

I have struggled with bloating under my ribs for about 6 years now (also tend to constipation and wind pain/ distension in bowel frequently). Endoscopies all ok. Said I have small hiatus hernia which should not cause problems. Luckily I can manage without wearing my bra all the time (78, so life is easier in that respect)

After attempting a lot of methods I have recently improved somewhat. My gp allows me 10mg omeprazol which I take about 1 hr before breakfast and this releases the build up of wind from the night time. (Never bothers me when lying down, only after I get out of bed). I know from experience I need the omeprazol but avoid larger dose because of my side effects Found I only needed small tsp calfig over a few mornings to solve history of constipation. Mostly gluten free, but able to relax this somewhat now, plenty well cooked veg, chicken, fish. I try to keep sugars low as possible also carbs. However I do allow myself some provided I’m doing OK. No between meal snacks, no coffee and only v weak tea or water to drink. Fruits are difficult so I sadly have v little currently

I do Tai Chi- but not daily- and I still enjoy gardening, walking, so I am quite active for my age. A hot water bottle relieves a lot of discomfort when bad. I am now able to prepare for a social occasion (meal) by keeping to my regime previous 24 hrs. I even feel I can perhaps look ahead to spending time away again.

As my husband’s carer (stroke/prostate c.) I do have some stress but I now feel I am perhaps managing that OK. It’s taken a long time and a lot of discomfort, but I really do feel I have improved over past 2/3 months. So I do urge sufferers to try to take a more relaxed view because it takes a long time to test the effectiveness of one change in our self care and self-awareness is the only method. However the description of “Perceived Danger Pain” (look it up) is also relevant.

Good luck to you Relaxeddan, and any other sufferers. I hope 2025 is better for us all!
