I don't know what to do. I am also chronically constipated I use a lot of plain suppositories and magnesium citrate since no other laxative seems to work. Now I sometimes have to take two bottles to bottles to make it work.started taking baking soda. i have lemon with water.

I take probiotics. I hardly ever eat meat and now have an aversion to eggs and most other things. I used to love eggs. I have a lot of coffee and lemon ginger tea.I am on medications that cause constipation With Trump and the virus I am so stressed out.

the gas and stomach pains and at times nausea started over a half a year ago when my best friend died. Now I am through with mourning.

Okay, let's break this down into easier bite size problems so that we can work them out slowly and surely. The gas, stomach pains and nausea are probably stress-related due to your friend's passing, and wouldn't have been helped by Covid-19 or Trump. I think we should try to work on constipation first, so here goes: Do not drink alcohol or fizzy drinks, and do not eat peanuts, sweetcorn, Brussel sprouts or baked beans. Reduce your coffee (caffeine) intake. Make sure you drink a minimum of 2 litres of water every day and try to do a brisk 15-minute walk every day as well. Have you tried eating 2 Kiwi fruits per day to help ease constipation? Good luck, take care and stay safe.

Thank you so much. Coffee is about the only thing I enjoy now. I have tried a lot of kiwis but they didn't help. I had a stroke a few years ago so have difficulty walking. So terrified of the virus because of my age and heath that I have only left the apartment two times. What a mess.

Have you tried caffeine free or low coffee? The problem is that as this is a diuretic (takes water from your body) you need to replace it as lack of water is the most common reason for constipation

I will start drinking a lot more water. I guess drinking a lot of coffee and tea don't count. I really appreciate your advice!

Get movicol or laxido from Doctor to soften stools. I find I get very bad wind with constipation.

I was given this while in hospital and find it's the only thing that really works for me with almost no side effects

Eggs can be binding but they are really good for you. More water is key. Like FReedman said coffee is a diuretic so not good if you're constipated. I love coffee too but have cut down a lot

yesterday I drank so much water and less coffee, I will keep on doing it. still not ready for eggs. thank you so much.

last night i took 1400 mg of magnesium oxide(first time) and this morning took my usual suppository, lemon water and baking soda and i went and it wasn't diarrhea. i was afraid that i would get used to magnesium citrate which my doctor had recommended. i still have gas.

i am beginning to worry that until the virus is under control and trump is defeated i am just so terrified they are just causing too much stress. i also just read to either lie on your left side or back and am beginning to that

The virus and Trump are not things you can do a lot about, but how often you think about them and what kind of thoughts are things you have a bit more control over, and also there are things you can do to help reduce your stress. Meditation, gentle yoga, mindfulness, guided meditation, breathing exercises, massage, even warm baths are a few things that may help on a purely physical level. There is information about these things online, and a lot of how-to videos on Youtube. My experience is that there is a body-mind feedback loop with stress - when I think anxious thoughts it can give me physical symptoms like tightening muscles, and when I have physical discomfort in ways that resemble stress symptoms for whatever reason, it seems like my brain starts flailing around looking for what it's supposed to be worrying about, and as soon as I nuke one suggestion it comes up with another. I find it can help sometimes to tell myself firmly that things are OK and to focus awareness on what is going on in my body. You could also consider counselling or cognitive behavioural therapy to help with these things if you can afford that, and those can be done perfectly well over the internet via Skype or Zoom, or over the phone. If you're open to religion, it seems able to provide many people with emotional support in life's difficulties but can also be used to trap and manipulate people in ways that aren't helpful, so caution is needed there. I hope some of the suggestions others have made help with the constipation, and that you start to feel better soon.
