I had an endoscopy and flex sigmoidoscopy today (lucky me)
And the endoscopy showed that i have small diverticulum in my stomach. The nurse tried her best to explain it me but really had no idea what she was talking about.
Has anyone else had his or heard of it to give me a little more information??
Many Thanks!!x

From what I’ve heard and without Dr. Google cause that always states something horrible like cancer. It’s a benign condition that is rarely found in the stomach but about 30% of people are found to have it. You should be okay. Just eat healthy and drink plenty of water, avoid sugar as much as possible.
I have diverticuli in my bowel very badly. I find as long as I wear "nothing" that touches my waist or lower abdomen, and I don't bend a lot, I can go for quite awhile without pain. these can burst if not dealt with properly. I normally cannot eat lettuce, as that really plays havoc with my bowel. Bending over packing for moving really brought on a bad bought that lasted for two years. I also avoid seeds and nuts and find that is helpful even though "some" doctors tell you to add these to your daily diet. This seems to be very iffy, affecting some and not others. Also watch "sesame" seeds.
I hope this helps
Hi DM14, its been a while since I logged on to IBS network (all the tips etc don't seem to help, I feel) however I had a sigmoidoscopy and later a colonoscopy so have an idea of what you had.
Diverticula is with most of us after a certain age, possibly due to not having enough roughage in the western diet. Little folds in the bowel can trap pieces of food/waste and this can cause pain or inflammation. Even nuts or small seeds can contribute to this.
Maybe stay of seeds, even on strawberries, and see if it helps.
It's a hernia. It's like someone as poked their finger from inside your stomach but it doesn't spring back. I have a single Diverticula on my right side but in my colon and it doesn't bother me at all. Just eat healthy and drink lots of water and eat high fibre diet. Bad western diets cause these unfortunately
