Mebeverine

Has anyone else found that their symptoms of IBS increase after taking mebervive. I was prescribed it, and when I have taken it my stomach flares up, I get major bloating and really sharp stomach pains?

Has anyone else had this or is it just me?

Yes, meveverine seems to affect the peristalsis by slowing it down. It doesn't help with constipation as it can make it worse and cause more pain. I cant take it

Yes years ago gp put me on it. Made my symptons worse so stopped using it

Hi, I was prescribed this. I had to stop taking it as it made me constipated and bloated. I find it makes my IBS much worse

Yes same here and taking buscopan did the same. I'm taking Laxido that bulks up poo and up to now no major IBS flare-up. Only take it 2 or 3 times a week but you can have more if necessary.

I used pretty much live off dulcolax as nothing else worked for me, i would take it every other day for 3 months just go to the toilet, luckily the constipation side of the IBS has got a lot better with diet changes, it’s just the bloating and stomach cramps I struggle with and not much seems to work but I have recently found something that has made a huge difference to my bloating so fingers crossed it stays that way

I also find it makes constipation worse for me. I have stopped that and am using dulcoease and aflorex which I find helpful so far.
