You could try a glycerine suppository. They don't suit me but they do help some people.

Thanks I may well do that.

Hello, I had a similar problem with meveberine. I found the best cure for me was to ensure I drank at least 2 litres of water a day and within a couple of days I could feel the difference. Also could you add flax seeds and even a couple of dates to your diet?

Thanks I will "up" my water consumption.

Oh Tash its a nightmare. I have pernicous anaemea and apparently my IBS ( diagnosed 2 weeks ago) is a product of that. Im taking advice from other people on this site. Drinking a lot of water eating more pulses and taking laxative. I get the sick feeling too. I suspect yours stems from anxiety.

Yeah have had a lot stress latly thanks for replying literally every night bed time it's horrendous started think it's not ibs it's something serious eating and drinking makes me feel sick at times the docs don't know y I still feel sick but every test is clear horrendous init what does my head in I don't drink alcohol anyway but I've even quit smoking

Hi. It sounds like you may have a lot on your mind. Worrying about something makes it worse. Every part of your body tenses up. Try to eat small amounts with lots of water. Listen to music or concentrate on something else. I know its not easy but do try.

Yeah I'm starting to think maybe I should go back on meds as I've refused take them all these months prob the best thing but putting more into your stomach wen it's already upset I'm bit on edge. About it x

How is your ibs a thing moment

I believe meds are there to help us get by day today. Better than suffering. Take what you need and eventually you may be able to do without. Just be comfortable and content. Ive just got cocosmol and my IBS doesnt seem to be as bad as some other people. I do playvtennis a lot. I think any type of excercise helps too.

B vitamins especially b6 work wonders for anxiety, as well as magnesium. Those are depleted during stressful moments and if you're noticing it's starting to mess with your IBS more and more the chances are high that those supplements will help with both your mind and your intestines.

If you want nearly instant constipation relief, try wild blueberries in oatmeal with olive oil. Like hellla blueberries. Or red raspberries. You will definitely be relieved if you eat an entire box. Magnesium glycinate is the type of magnesium that pulls the most water into the intestines, but you'll need some salt and a good amount of water to replace what gets pulled into your intestines.

Hello.

I am also taking mebeverine and it has definitely coincided with more constipation. What does your doctor say about taking it 'as and when'?

Best wishes

I take one 200mg tablet twice a day. Morning before breakfast and evening. I am now taking cocosmol for constipation. It works gently.

If you are taking the pill form suggest you ask your GP if the 200 mg time release capsules would be better for you

Hi all.

Lots of great advice here already just thought I'd mention sometimes fybogel can help as it softens the stool if constipated but can also help bulk the stool if you have diarrhoea.

I've been on buscopan for quite a number of yrs now I also have Crohn's, diverticulitis and probable microscopic colitis so sometimes I don't know which is "playing up".

Just wanted to say some types of magnesium can aggravate diarrhoea think its magnesium citrate but do check as my brain fog is bad at the moment.

Another thing that I wouldn't be without is a good probiotic I was advised to try tgem by my consultant. The one I've stayed on is quest mega 8 biotix. I get it via a health food shop on Amazon or ebay as it is expensive but does help me.

I've also tried the low fodmap way of eating and that also helped me. Its advised to get the supervision of a dietician but I found lots of free advice and recipes online and Pinterest so did it myself.

Its not easy trying to get it in balance at times but hope some of this helps a bit.

Take care

You need to talk to an IBS network nurse.

They will tell you constipation is a symptom of ibs + maybe you need to go back to your GP. Good luck!
