Laxatives that don't cause nausea?

Hello I am suffering from constipation and just wondering what laxatives are least likely to cause nausea? I'm having problems with my stomach I'm getting an endoscopy in a month I'm feeling nauseous almost all the time and having problems going to the toilet. So very sensitive to meds at the moment. I have tried senna, lactulose and a couple other ones but I either feel very nauseous or throw up off them. So seeing if anyone has any recommendations.Thank you

Hello, good evening,

I'm uncertain that my message may help you - but I will give it a go.

I usually use suppositories - 2 or 3 at a time if I am well blocked and backed up.

However I have occasionally used a laxative.

I have found Picosulphate very helpful - i found it at the UKs largest supermarket.

It did not make me feel queesy.

I have also tried castor oil - absolutely vile to take, despite much mixing of it with tomato juice. It certainly was successful at clearing a huge backlog inside me. However the very oiliness of it may be difficult for some people to swallow.

When I went for a colonoscopy, one time I was given Kleenprep to take - i think thats its correct name. Not pleasant but no nausea.

I hope this may have been of some interest to you.

I've been taking enemas and I'm also on laxatives and they do the same thing with my stomach or bowel but I've had suppositories and they have helped

I have chronic constipation and take one sachet of molaxoke (macrogol) every day, I get it on prescription and it doesn’t cause me to have nausea, good luck

Hello 93... I've had problems in the past with medications of any kind causing nausea/upset stomach and other unpleasant symptoms. I've found that taking probiotics for the past 3 years has really helped. The one I take is Bio-Kult Everyday but it was a long process to find one that agreed with me. For the IBS/constipation, I take Laxido powder plus a small amount of Fybogel which is helping things, with no adverse reaction. Hope this helps and good luck with your endo.

Most ppl are magnesium deficient anyway, so taking about 500 mg of Magnesium should do the trick every time. Take at night before bed and ready by morning. No Pharmacy meds needed!

Hi CaseyU ! Can you tell me when I go to buy the 500mg. Magnesium, is that what your bottle says, or is there a type or other name with the mag. label ? I just want to get the magnesium you're getting ~ 🙂 Thanks for any help. 👍

Any magnesium will do the job. 500 mg. The less expensive magnesium will help as much as the more expensive kind

Thank you Casey ! I have been paying 13.00 a bottle of liquid called Mylanta a week! Just for the Magnesium 800mg. Can't afford with just a low fixed income and didn't know what I was going to do ... Gosh, all that $$ ! Again, thank you for replying, and thank you for the information! 🙏🙏🙏 !!!

No problem! And the good news is you can take it every day - and should - magnesium oxide or citrate are waaaay cheaper than that bottled liquid stuff. It helps your muscles, helps you sleep, etc. also. Most people are deficient. If 500 mg doesn't work and you took it before bed, just take another one in the morning. It won't hurt, doesn't cause side effects (except being able to "go") and won't mess up your system. God bless
