Hi all

I had a colonoscopy last week which was fine! Although the consultant said in addition to my IBS I had diverticulitis and despite a massive clear out before the procedure I was still quite blocked in places. I was very relieved there was no cancer there but since the procedure and numerous laxatives I have not had a bowel movement for five days. Lots of wind and despite enemas nothing is forthcoming. Any thoughts. Thanks

Have you tired milk of magnesia? I always use this after surgery or procedures and it works overnight I take a cap full at bedtime and wake up and go it really gets things moving for me.

Yes, I find that my colon kind of goes to sleep - definitely try the milk of magnesia- I swear it takes me a full month before I feel normal again. After that just use puralax and drink lots of water to keep things going.

I had 2 colonoscopies in a month early 2021 after loads of bowel problems around Xmas 2019 and into the new year 2020 I think 1st colonoscopy 6/7 polyps removed 2nd about 4/5 more removed so not any chance of recovery in between ( prep stuff bloody awful ) had to have covid tests before each one even though I had been shielding as I had underlying health issues I did try and eat things from the low fodmap ETC before and after each one as I did most of what was on there the consultant told me I had Diverticular Disease and IBS and thought they would give tablets and after taking them I would be fixed but no chance still having problems over Xmas last year so another colon scan early this year all OK and a scan like they do for when you have a baby that too was OK it's still no better now but I am fed up with being poked and prodded about now but I know I shall have to pluck up the courage to go back to the Doc's again soon as I can't carry on like this anymore and should not be expected to well take care and look after yourself please

Hello to you I hope that you are as well as you can be??? Well I have written on here loads of times before and people on here will be sick and tired about me and my story all the time but I shall tell it again I had breast cancer in 2018 and know this is NOT the site for that OK

Well after 6 lots of chemo then 15 doses of radio that ended and thought all was OK

Then I started to notice blood in my poop when wiping had FIT test that came back clear thankfully but was still having poop problems uncontrollable water like stuff that would gush out of me when standing Imodiums wouldn't stop it fast forward to early 2021 had 1st colonoscopy 6/7 polyps removed ( prep medicine awful say no more ) 1/2 way through that one Consultant said I had to go back to have 3/4 more removed ( NO CANCER ) still having problems on & off last year given more tablets like banging my head against a brick wall with Doc's who kept giving me even more tablets tried following the FODMAP diet ETC then more blood in poop so another colon scan this year ( more prep stuff )I also had a scan like they do for pregnant ladies still NO CANCER thank you it's got to the stage now that I don't want to be poked or prodded about anymore I just want to go somewhere just to have it cut out of me as I was told I had IBS/Diverticular Disease and thought take tablets like a course of them for 10/14 days and all would be well but it's fast approaching another year still got it

Well I have given up trying to go out couldn't attend my Mum's funeral or see her before she died as she lived 150 miles away ( No toilets ) as we people now full well it can come and attack us without warning as it's bad enough it happening at home let alone being out and about and even now I have this awful "URGE" to go and I can be like that every waking moment of the day well that's as much as I can go into for the moment OK So try and take care and look after yourself just to let you know you are not alone even though you/we feel like we are!!!

My problems seem very minor compared with you. I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. This site does help people. You know you are not alone and family are inclined to get fed up with all the moans. My problem is definitely IBSc and now I know it is diverticulitis as well. Despite the colonoscopy I am told there are still blockages in my bowels. Hopefully we will find a way to clear this. My wife and I are going on a cruise in two weeks - something we both need after a terrible stressful year for many reasons. We have been before I just hope all this does not ruin it. There are plenty of toilets on board which makes it less traumatic. Anyway I must not moan after what you are going through. Take care Ian x
