I had the bivalent Covid vaccine on 27 December (my fifth vaccine). I had noticed in the last couple of years that about two weeks after each vaccine, my bowels acted up a bit but they subsided after taking Normix. But ever since 10 January, which was two weeks after this bivalent vaccine, I have had more intense diarrhea in the morning. I have had to stop drinking coffee and even have problems with decaf and black tea.
All my usual tests show nothing is wrong. My gastroenterologist has just put me on prescription Imodium (1 0 1) for two weeks, which he will increase if I don't improve. He also thinks the diarrhea is vaccine-related and says quite a few of his IBD patients have reported various problems. But I have seen threads on Redditt where people say they've had prolonged diarrhea from the vaccine for 6 months!
I would appreciate any advice or hearing about your experiences. I don't know what to eat or drink (don't want to live on bananas and white rice for 6 months!) and I'm afraid it will prevent my overseas holiday in June if it hasn't cleared up by then as I wouldn't be the most welcome guest. Thanks so much!

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I haven't had the bivalent booster yet but i had no problems with the regular covid vaccines before it. However i did a search targetting medical journals for any stats on this, and it seems although it's rare it has occurred similar to what you describe. According to this article, about 3% of those vaccinated will get short term upset stomach but in very rare cases it can go on longer.
Here's the link if you are interested. It's published by the US National Library of Medicine. It's very short but to the point.
Thanks - that's the only case I could find too but when you go on Redditt, there are plenty of people asking the same question as I am. My doctor thinks that my problems are due to the vaccine and says that a lot of his IBD clients say they are having serious trouble with the vaccine but he says it's too much trouble to report them as side effects. I'm just hoping someone has found out how to solve it - five weeks of this tomorrow! (I see this response is just repeating what I originally wrote - oh, well). Again, thanks so much!
I really hope you recover from it before your trip away. I also wanted to thank you for posting your experience as it could well be something that is more common amongst those suffering with IBS and IBD which i do. I need a booster but i might get the same one i had last time i think. Thanks again, and wish you a speedy recovery!
I have a feeling that there are people who have all sorts of side effects from the vaccine who are uncounted because they never get reported or they don't know how to report it themselves.
I don't know anything about what an MHRA yellow card is (yes, I'm outside of the UK but in the EU) and haven't found anything about "natural protocols" at removing the vaccine's effects. Any help or links you could provide would be gratefully appreciated!
