Has any one being diagnosed with functional Diarrhea?i am just trying to detect if my IBS D is functional Diarrhea ( which is also a sub category of IBS D) as I don’t have any abdominal pain. Only gas and d. I have tested for SIBO but it’s not that also. But my doctor is treating me with an low absorption antibiotic. ( chk my earlier post).

Functional Diarrhea
Has your doctor discussed Bile Acid Diarrhoea? It is frequently missed as a diagnosis for the symptoms you describe.
Yes. He said it’s not what I have. Apparently I don’t have the symptoms of the same according to him. But I am going to push him to get the test to at least put my mind to rest.
My symptoms were unpredictable diarrhoea over many years. I didn't have the test for BAD but was asked by my gastroenterologist to do a trial of the medication, Questran. That has stopped it completely and I haven't had an episode now for 12 months. It's worth a try.
Apologies if I appear ignorant, but what is functional diarrhoea?
The Rome IV diagnostic criteria categorize functional gastric disorders including functional diarrhea, according to specific definitions.
Functional diarrhea criteria are:
The experience of loose or watery stools
Lack of pain with the diarrhea
Diarrhea occurring in at least 75 percent of bowel movements
A least six months of symptoms, at least three months of which must be consecutive
No identifiable cause (structural or biochemical)
Thank you for the clarification
