Anyone else diagnosed with IBS without having obvious problems with either constipation or diarrhea? Main symptoms are cramping aching pain in gut and lower back and some aches in other places in body, bloated full feeling, gas, general ungood feelings. Episodes last a few weeks, then I feel better for a while. Often comes on after a stressful time. Sometimes seems worse around my period.

IBS without constipation or diarrhea?
I too go through periods like this. I am in one now as a matter of fact. It is definitely related to my cycle. Usually mid-cycle is the worst for me. I don’t notice any bowel changes, however; I do get this low abdominal ache. My gut will end up feeling tender for a few days. I am thinking that mine is more uterine related, although the doctor never listens to my thoughts.
My dominant IBS symptom is pain including back pain. Have you tried Alflorex probiotic, which has been scientifically studied for IBS since a dominance of bad bugs in the gut can oversensitise intestinal nerves causing pain? There is also the Nerva gut directed hypnotherapy app which calms gut nerves too.
Since it is worse around your period, have they considered endometriosis?
Thank you for the suggestions. I hadn't heard of the probiotic, and will look into that. Yes, I have considered endometriosis but it doesn't seem to fit my symptoms right I don't think.
Yes, I didn't have either constipation or diarrhoea when I was diagnosed with IBS, and my digestive problems & fatigue were intermittent to begin with but unlike yours, not period-related and for a couple of days at a time.
Mine is definitely not always period related either, just a couple of flare ups coincided with it and seemed worse than normal.
