Hi, I have been having Bowel issues for Six Months.
I have had camera's both ends and the recommendations are I have IBS and non-ulcer dyspepsia.
I have a permanent pain in the bowel area which is made worse after bowel movements.
The only relief I can get is to not eat, as if I do not pooh, then the pain may ease off after a day or so (as I not going to the toilet).
Tried FODMAP for a few weeks, Not eating bread etc and Buscopan for relief but nothing helps.
I'm posting because it seems like a "reverse" IBS as only triggers after going to the toilet and is a painful soreness below my belly button which extends across.
Has anyone had or have this type of IBS?.
Thanks.

Ibs symptoms can be made better or worse in relation to a bowel movement. I have constant pain around my belly button and never feel comfortable. I've been told my pain is "functional ", after having cameras both ends, and a barrage of other investigations/procedures . I have days when it really gets me down, but im trying to get on with my offer and not let it dominate everything, which isn't always easy. I haven't tried FODMAP, although I'm currently trying dairy free. I'll try it after an upcoming holiday. Hope this helps a little.
Thanks, Good luck with the Dairy experiment. Unfortunately it made no different for me, sometimes Milk is good for my condition, think it coats some internal bits.
Well, their suggestion of dyspepsia indicates that you’re not able to digest what you’re eating. If that’s true, then the answer may lie in diet, even though the fodmap diet didn’t help. It’s worth keeping a food diary, to see what your potential triggers might be. Or seeing a dietitian.
Otherwise, stress can cause havoc with the digestion, so find things you can do that make you feel less stressed. Some people swear by Pilates. For me it’s singing or walking in beautiful nature. Your GP can also help with low-dose amitripyline or you can self-refer for CBT, which I found somewhat helpful.
Yes i have similar, pain after going to the toilet which eases after a day or so. Trouble is when i dont go i feel blocked up and after a few days have to take something for constipation! I have the pain as you describle across the bottom of my belly. I do have a hernia in my groin which makes it worse and affects it. I sometimes take peppermint capsules to help ease pain, otherwise have to resort to paracetamol
I have been diagnosed recently with ibs it was so bad, I was rushed into the hospital. I was told to write a diary of my food, which helps. I was told to not eat any wheat and dairy, which has eased it considerably. I also have pain in the same area and have been prescribed Mebravine tablets which help to alleviate the spasms a lot (colfolac over the counter). You need to take regularly, as it’s too late when the pain is there. I have used Buscopan but I feel better with the Mebravine personally. What has helped a lot with the cramps when they start, is sipping a mug of hot water from the kettle and it really helps with my bloating.
