Hi. I am new. I've had bowel issues for years now. It flares up and I get uncontrollable diarrhea. So embarrassing! As soon as I see a doctor and start testing, it clears up. Then I am told to just come back if it returns. I go back and forth to Florida, so seeing the same doctor is impossible. Any way.....I have just started to use the FODMAP diet. Only on it a couple of days. I am praying it will help at least with the uncontrollable, unexpected , unable to get to the toilet fast enough. I get no pain. Just some gurgling ..... Glad to be on a site with like peple who understand what I am going through.
Hi.....: Hi. I am new. I've had bowel issues for... - IBS Network
Hi.....
I am similar in that I get no warning. Very stressful! I also thing this at makes it worse
I too had the problem of keep going to the docs and it clearing up. I am just about the embark on the fodmap diet, it looks hard but it may well be worth it.
Hope it works for you
Just wanted to let you know your not on your own
Tim
Thanks. It does help to know that I am not alone.....Let's see how this goes. Keep in touch. Let me know how you are doing.
I will also be going on the FODMAP diet albeit I have IBS C and not D.
Best of luck to you
What is the team c and d?
Only diagnosed last month, finding it hard to get info.
It's ok. Got it now. I have IBS d
Thanks. Same to you. Let's hope it gives us some relief.
Hi do you ever have normal BM - or are these just sporadic? My bowel movements have never been normal since food poisioning. Fodmap diet alright but I haven't really seen an improvement unless you stick to fish and chicken no red meat or spaghetti sauces or spicy sauces no alcohol no seeet drinks and pretty much no fruit. Goodluck
It was good poisoning that started mine off, I never had any problems with food before then. I get more of IBS C rather than D and have stomach cramps, wind and intermittent nausea. I am hoping that the FODMAP diet helps me but from what I've seen on here I'm not sure whether it's more for those with IBS D.
I think IBS C became IBS D for me after amoebic dysentery in the 1990s. Then all the anti-parasitic meds strip everything out of the gut. Have you been checked for helliobactor pylori? That gives rolling cramps and nausea.
I have tried dairy free and no grains containing gluten for the last week and everything has calmed down so here's hoping my flare up has died away.
I find the lack of energy really difficult to deal with.
Hi there Sue, so sorry for the long delay in my reply, I have been on holiday for 2 weeks.
I was tested for the Helliobactor Pylori a couple of years ago and it wasn't that. Now I am back from holiday I am going to start on the FODMAP diet. I will also be looking at dairy free once I have finished the FODMAP diet as I have a feeling that may also be a problem - I bought a very naughty treat whilst on holiday which was 2 mini lemon cheesecakes and after the second one my tummy started to play up and I felt nauseous.
I'm glad you started to feel better and I hope that you are still feeling okay.
I am so sorry you have this. I have been going through what you are describing. I am working on a low Fodmap. Sometimes it helps and sometimes not. Just keep experimenting! Welcome!
FODMAP is my next port of call so to speak.
Best of luck to you also.
I am seeing a wee bit of success with rigid FODMAP!
Thanks very much, I have had a look on the internet at a book so will probably be purchasing that. I have an app but not sure how to use it yet!!
Glad you are seeing some success.
