Does Probiotic help with bloating

Hello everyone, wondering if anyone has used a probiotic from a British Company called “BetterVits” it has good reviews but is expensive. I. Prepared to pay if it gets good results. £60 for 3 bottles of 30 or £40 for 1 bottle. They do give a 60 day money back guarantee.

The tables contain Lactobacillus, Bifiodobacterium and prebiotic Inulin plus B12.

Or can anyone recommend something?

Hi im not a nutrition expert but from my experience - innulin a prebiotic you need to stay away from that if you have Sibo or bloating . I thought I would mention it before you buy. Maybe someone on here can explain why - or speak to nutrition person. . Sorry I can’t explain more but I had terribleTime with prebiotics . I think there’s a lot of mis information to try prebiotics and

Probiotics and there needs to be a specific diet etc. sorry I can’t help more .

I’ve used big bits before and they were reliable.

Good luck! I just thought I’d reply as I’ve been the bloating and still suffer with it .

Prebiotics like inulin tend to aggravate people with SIBO. Pre biotics basically are 'food' for the bacteria, to increase bacteria. This would be a good thing in your colon. The problem is that if you have SIBO, or even if you are any adult, you likely have some bacteria in your small intestine. When you take something orally, chances of it getting to your colon before being fodder for the bacteria in the small intestine are slim to none. Now, you have increased /supported the SIBO , and have more bloating, gas, pain or whatever your symptoms were.

This is also why most people with SIBO feel worse with probiotics. We really don't want any bacteria in the small intestine, and when you take things orally, that is likely where they will end up.

It would make sense to me, therefore to take a probiotic via enema, putting it right into the colon, but I don't read much about that. I have read the same criticism as for the oral use - the amount is so small compared to what we normally have, that it isn't going to make a big difference.

Inulin plays havoc with my ibs, in a documentary I watched about IBS it seems a very common trigger.

I have also tried various different probotics from standard price to expensive and sadly have not helped me but of course it depends what the issue is.

Hi, I recognise inulin as being a high fodmap source, I believe it is classed as a fructans, therefore even small amounts can irritate ibs with gas, bloating etc. it would be cheaper to try a tiny amount of inulin powder on its own and see if it is beneficial ( add it to your food , breakfast cereal) and slowly increase. Prebiotics like inulin are good for helping probiotics to grow so are very good for your gut health if you can tolerate them.Or you could try eating small amounts of chicory, a high source of inulin. Alternatively Holland and Barrett sell inulin powder you could add to your food. The other probiotics mentioned in your post are quite cheap also from Holland and Barrett ( you can see where I shop here!)

Also they have great online advisors you can book a time and day to speak to. Ver best wishes, don’t rush into anything Mutley

Hi again, just wondered if you have tried peppermint oil capsules/ tea or fennel tea both ( not together 😅) are good for relieving bloating if that is a concern. Best Wishes Mutley

Thank you again yes I’ve tried peppermint oil capsules but left a strong aftertaste. I do regularly drink peppermint tea but still need help with bloating and wind when I eat.

Hi Squash, u cud try chewing a few fennel seeds after a meal or make a batch of tea up to have throughout the day, check out amounts as it’s powerful stuff! All the best on your quest! Mutley

I used Holland & Barrett's product for a month, in order to reset my gut, and found it helpful for bloating. So much so, that I felt really hungry shortly after eating for the first few days.

As you can see we are all different, I take probiotics if my IBS d drains me but I tend to avoid the foods that ferment in the tum, for me it's mushrooms.

Hi I take saccharomyces boulardi from Optibac. My go recommended them to me and at first I was dubious but they really help me and I notice when I miss one day.

I use Bio-Cultures Complex by Free Soul, they seem to work pretty well for me

I used the Hollande and Barrett stuff and it helped a bit, but the main thing that stops my bloating is ginger tea.

I use the Bettervits Probiotic Complex and its worked wonders for me. Been suffering from IBS for years and their product cleared it up a lot!
