ive been having awful diarrhoea where the consistency is similar to curdled milk, and I go to the toilet several times a day. I then gets spells where i struggle to poo, and it comes out in painful pellets. i regularly weigh 55kg, but when im having a flare-up my weight can drop to 47kg. i have recently been getting intense stomach and chest pain and specifically pain on my right lower stomach. my eyes are dry and sore, im exhausted and when i feel i need to poo, i feel incredibly sick and in a lot of pain, and once I've finished I have to lie down for a while to recover. my poo has been covered in some sort of mucus that burns. any ideas what's wrong with me?
what's wrong with me? have only been diagnosed... - IBS Network
what's wrong with me? have only been diagnosed with IBS but have a feeling it's more.
I have no idea what is wrong but I would definitely go back to your doctor and insist on further tests. Just because you have been diagnosed with IBS it doesn't mean you won't get any other illness. It could possibly be a nasty flare up but either way you should get checked out as they may be able to help you with these horrible symptoms. Good luck.
I am glad you have said you have a hospital appointment as this is the only way that you will find out if you have IBS or possibly IBD or similar...your symptoms are in line with a flare of IBS but you mentioned sore eyes and exhaustion could be colitis or something like that. Either way, there are meds to help (especially if IBD ) so please do not worry and I hope you get the tests you need! Good luck
Hi I feel same diagnosed with IBS then some days feel it’s something more serious.
I keep losing weight even though am eating, I have constant stomach pains more to the right side but sometimes it’s upper and lower. I also feel I have the urge to poo but then don’t as have constant pressure down there.
Nearly 3 mths now, I went back to the doctors last week and he prescribed senna and buscopan and said 99% it’s IBS.
I ve had my bowels open twice today but still feel the urge to go.
I don’t want to keep contacting the dr as don’t want to look a nuisance.
This is exactly reflective of my own situation. I feel like someone has got a vice like grip on my ribs as soon as I eat, and no matter what I eat, it's always the same immediately. In fact, the sensation is so severe, I sometimes feel like I can't take a full breath. I ended up in A&E recently, but they did a heart trace and blood tests to rule out heart related issues. The weight is dropping off me so I am really worried. I had a sigmoidoscopy in November, which was clear. St my wit's end. Gsstro have said it's 'just' IBS. Have a follow up appointment on Tuesday but I don't hold out any hope of getting a treatment option. Quality of life is zero.
