Hi there…
Has anyone found magnesium helps gut motility with slow transit constipation, or any type of constipation?
I used to take 800mg+ of Magnesium Oxide for a regular bowel movement when having to be low fibre. I used these since they are 100mg small tablets that can be incremented gradually to find the level that you need:

I used to start around 800mg at bed time on an empty stomach, then increment by 100mg (1 pill) each night until I got a response the next morning or the morning after. Most of it goes straight to your bowels where it draws in water to bulk out stools.
This worked well when I was low fibre, but when I started to introduce fibre it became more unpredictable (either not working well enough or too well), so I had to give it up.
I have slow transit constipation and I take magnesium citrate 100mg four times a day .It’s difficult to say if it’s helped as I take other laxatives as well as Prucalopride , but it hasn’t done any harm and there has been a fair bit about magnesium being beneficial, so I think it’s worth trying , I get mine from Holland & Barrett as they generally have offers on .
I hope this helps
I've heard that calm magnesium is a good option for this, I'm thinking of trying it too as I want to come off the horrid movicol.
Milk of magnesia does the trick., or magnesium citrate 2 x 200mg
Although I have not tried it myself, i have rea that magnesium citrate is beneficial. I am going ti try it myself. Good luck
