Buscopan

I’m getting more cramping at the moment & the Colpermin are doing nothing , I’ve got Buscopan in the cupboard but I’m worried it might make my constipation worse ? 🤔

Has anyone found this when taking it please ?

i've had IBS all my life i started with buscopan, but it didn't do much for the cramps my doc switched me to Mebeverine, been on it over 3 decades and while it doesn't stop all cramps, it made them more infequent. Oh, and by experimenting my doc found that if i cramps then bad runs taking Loperamide quickly sorted it, have a chat with your doc, hope my info helps

Thank you David , I’ve tried Mebeverine but it was a while ago , I’ll ask my doctor if I can try them again , see if they help me .

Just shows how different we are. Mebeverine does nothing for me. Buscopan really helps and no, it does not make me constipated.I agree with David about the loperamide. It really works and makes life a lot easier.

Thanks Purpletara , I wouldn’t dare take Loperamide, its Imodium isn’t it , as my problem is constipation as well as the cramps 🙄

It’s the tightness in your abdomen , caused by the IBS or so I have always thought ?

I find I need to switch between buscapan and colpermine. They workfor a while and if they then seem to stop helping the other one may well do. A very loose sort of indefinite method but works for me

Yes , I agree I think meds work for a bit & then your gut seems to get used to it & you need a change , I’ve asked my doctor to swap so I’ll wait & see .
