Does Buscopan work? I’ve had a few embarrassing incidents of major cramps the need for the toilet when I’m out. Apart from it being embarrassing I get really worried that I am going to mess myself & just have to leave. Fortunately I’ve made it home or to a reasonably clean toilet. I have a number of things coming up before my wedding & the honeymoon in June but instead of looking forward I am worried & becoming anxious about it all. Would Buscopan take away the cramps & need for the toilet straight away?

Buscopan
It can take the cramp away but you need to take it regularly I find it doesn't work if I am having a flare up but when I have just been advised by my gastro to take my buscopan 4 times a day due to the frequency of my attacks due to illness and fingers crossed it seems to be working...
It doesn't take away my urgency for the toilet but it was the cramps what were killing me 😢
And don't stress over your wedding as long as you get married that's the main thing and have a wonderful day 😘
Just to make you feel better, I had to have an operation morning of mine because I had been throwing blood up on the eve of the wedding, they let me out to get married (drugged upto the eyeballs lol) and then I had to go back in but I married the man of my dreams I was on cloud nine so all the little things don't matter x
Hi I am having an episode just now that has been going on for months. My doc has tested me for Coeliac and I'm waiting for the results. Had ultrasounds and CT too. Waiting for appointment with consultant.
Anyway, I found buscopan no good, my doc gave me prescription for mebeverine which you take before you eat. 3 days in there's an improvement, although I hope I don't speak too soon.
Good luck x
Hi. It’s horrible when it happens isn’t it. After suffering for years the doctor finally sent me for tests (for bile salt malabsorption and a colonoscopy). The bile salt one came back positive so basically when I eat or sometime after I eat I produce too much bile and it’s not getting reabsorbed like it should. Ending in diarrhoea. The colonoscopy also showed microscopic colitis (inflammation in bowel). I was also tested for coeliac but that was normal. So I would suggest you start writing down when it’s happening eg how long after you’ve eaten; what you’ve eaten; how long pains are/what stools are like etc and ask your doctor for some tests. I feel like my dr didn’t take me seriously at first and now she’s feeling guilty. The consultant said is often misdiagnosed. Anyway I’m now taking questran which helps. I still get cramps like I need to go urgently so not sure what will stop that. Anti diarrhoea tablets like diacalm also help. Good luck and pl find out what’s causing it.
Buscopan is good for the cramps, but I found taking Imodium sometimes helped for the urgency, although this isn't sustainable for daily use... and expensive.
Regarding your wedding day. I was worried about this too, especially wearing a big white dress and toilet logistics, but I took a couple of Imodium in the morning and thankfully the day was great.
Have your doctor prescribe you: Welchol, Colestipol, or Questran! These 3 drugs stop diarrhea in its rotten little tracks! I take the Colestipol tablets...4 a day...works wonders...I now have my life back!
