These days I try to take as few nutrient supplements as possible and get what I need from food. The supplement that has helped me the most is Alflorex probiotic. I also take calcium citrate due to lack of dairy and potassium iodide on days I don't eat fish (also due to lack of dairy). I take ginger extract and Optifibre to aid motility.

I take Alflorex probiotic and it's really helped. The same producers, PrecisionBiotics, also make another one called Zenflore but when I tried switching from Alflorex to Zenflore I had a week of cramps & loose stools - I'm typically IBS-C.

hutch368 follow the vagus nerve from it's beginning in the brain stem and the connection it provides to the body and the brain. Critical for proper brain and vagus nerve function is adequate thiamine and magnesium to activate the thiamine. Study the pros and cons of various forms of thiamine such as benfotiamine, TTFD, Sulbutiamine, thiamine mononitrate and thiamine hydrochloride. Do a similar study on magnesium. Look into the other B vitamins too, they work better together. Always consult with your health care provider before using any supplement.

You could end up rattling. If you peel back the label of a multi vitamin bottle you may well find it contains most of these things anyway. Eg magnesium and thiamine etc. Have a look.

I take vitamin d as requested by my go as I only go out once a week to do my shopping. I also take Moringa and vitamin c. I also have Peppermint oil capsules prescribed by my GP.

I take magnesium citrate, vit d & multi b vit in the morning as I have very little dairy plus I take Holland & Barrett multi digestive enzyme lunch & dinner to help with transit. I fast 4/5 hours between meals & find I rarely need buscopan or other similar meds. If I do fall off the wagon a bit ie chocolate or fish & chips, I use Senocalm before bed & this keeps me in check 😊
