Hi. I have had IBS for six years and it flairs up when I really stressed or anxious. Maintaining a healthy diet, exercise and managing my mental health has been the key and not relying on medication. Good luck.

Hi TigerH, you could do meditation on daily basis to manage stress levels generally. Or work on what triggers your stress and make adjustments to routine if possible to minimise effect. Having Reiki as a treatment. Using Aromathery in a diffuser or put diluted oils in bath such as lavender, orange, chamomile. If going out I research where going around food availability and toilet facilities as well as having an emergency pack in my handbag helps lower stress and make you feel safer.Hope you find what works best for you through replies on this forum.

Oh great, thank you 🤩

Yes ,it when I have nothing do you know the boredom of sitting and not knowing what to do.

Ok then, I’ll try to make myself busy, and do meditation 🧘 I guess

Alflorex probiotic has helped me the most with my IBS and it has been clinically studied for it.

Stress does make IBS worse. You could try the Nerva gut directed hypnotherapy app or any form of meditative practice or online guided meditations for the stress.

Also, if you are able, exercise helps greatly with stress. For example, running is the equivalent of actioning the fight or flight response, which gets rid of the tension related to this.

GP had given me some tablets, but it didn’t work.

Alflorex probiotic, can I get them from pharmacy?

Yes , I do exercise frequently but not running. I’ll try as well 😊

Boots pharmacy also sells them:

Stress definitely triggers IBS, I have 10mg of Citalopram and a probiotic to help, also get plenty of sleep, don't skip meals and also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Yes most definitely.

So as much as you can , don’t let yourself get worked up over everyday trivial stuff.

It affects my sleeping patterns too.

Probiotics most definitely have helped me. I use Starpowa good gut gummies.
