IBS OR DIVERTICULITIS? I FOUND IT IN HOSPITAL

Well I'm used to giving advice, but my experiences of the last 5 days shows gastric problems can quickly hit even the most informed. My problem began last Thursday morning after huge wind problems for a while after taking pro codomol something for hip pain. It gave me bad constipation for a number of days. So 5am has to go loo, then I went white and panicked, in the pan was bloodied stools with loo paper with streaks of dark blood. Into A&E I was taken, very scared. Handsome tests. Dracula nurses fought to get blood out of me,leaving me with bruises. In the surgical ward I stayed in, I was primarily diagnosed with my divertular turning into diverticulitist. I'm disabled with arthritic hips meaning had to be man handled everywhere. So had a very high BP. Put down to what's called "white coat" hypertension.. Did have on xray. Next day after no food for 48 hours woke me up at 2am sent me down for a Ct Contrast scan. Given some stuff antrexac acid or something to stop any more bleeding. Saturday was better was on drips for 26 hours. Blood tests returned normal levels, got some BP tablets to discuss with my gp. My ameprozele was increased buscapam same but no high paracetolms or nsaids and no ibropufen gel I was rubbing in my right buttock. Saturday told me I was stable, Ct scan showed nothing of concern but sent outpatients next week for colonoscopy to be sure. So changed diet gave up my curry's and especially egg fried rice, batter now remains off the menu. Going to have to rebalanced my diet cutting out the pastry and the dairy. To top it all its my 70 birthday today and weather is nothing like a normal may 12%c and pouring rain. Diverticulous symptoms are very like IBS so it's difficult to know which. But tummy was very bloated, more than I normally get. Hope this helps others darn. Getting old sucks. Take care Mike 🤔👍
