Recently diagnosed with uncomplicated diverticulitis, spent 4 days on IV antibiotics & fluids only in horrendous pain. Released on day 5 as pain was manageable (their words) & told to eat low fibre diet for next week & then to eat high fibre diet. I have found that white bread brings back cramps & bloating. So after some online research I have found some relief in drinking aloe Vera juice (100 mls). Has anyone tried Paleo Diet or Primal diet to help manage diverticulitis. At present I’m feeling afraid to eat much at all & waiting to have a colonoscopy in 6 weeks

Diverticulitis diagnosis
How was the diverticulitis diagnosed without a colonoscope?
Thank you
Was it diverticula disease or diverticulitis you were diagnosed with? Diverticulitis is the infection of the diverticula.
What were your symptoms and how did they diagnose you?
I had mine diagnosed with a camera up my bottom they also diagnosed IBS too.
what were your symptoms?
During flare up that caused hospital, left lower & upper quadrant pain over 14 days with increased intensity, temps of >38.5 over 3 days. Now after CY scan & 3 days of IV fluids & 2 antibiotics, now taking oral antibiotics & on low fibre diet day 7 out of hospital.
Thank you for the reply! I have had left sided abdo pain for over a year now and it's getting quite bad recently, when I check online I usually see diverticulitis as the main culprit but I'm not sure if it can be detected through blood tests/stool samples?
I'm quite worried, I've also been experiencing upper quadrant (left sided) pain too. I don't have a temperature and haven't noticed blood in my stool/pain when passing my stool.
When I first had pain didn't think much of it until I started having bleeds. when I poo the pain was unbelievable all at the left hand side. I get the runs some days and constipated other days. Recently before my poo comes out it seams like as it's travelling out its extremely painful x
How long have you been experiencing the pain for?
I was diagnosed a few years ago now
Before being diagnosed a few years
Wow a few years! I'm sorry to hear that, it's been a year of pain for me and I and constantly worried about it. Doctors won't give me more tests, apart from blood tests and one ultrasound that showed nothing How have you been getting on since your diagnosis?
I just have to get on with it really. There's not a lot I can do. Some days the pain makes me feel like I want to pass out. Being on LCHF makes it hard at times. I've have lots of other health issues, I have a very supportive husband and he understands me, which I know I'm extremely lucky to have
