Hello, my boyfriend is 24 and been suffering with stomach problems over 2years now. It all started with pain in his rib/chest bone which doctors thought it was his lungs due to difficulty in breathing but later come to learn its his stomach. He has lost his voice due to the damage from acid coming up from his stomach, which he is attending speech therapy for.
With his flare ups he is more gassy then needing to go to the toilet which im not sure if that’s a symptom with IBS?? his flare ups aren’t all the time but when he gets them he’s in loads of pain.
Doctors have him currently on Amitriptyline which seem to be helping after trying numerous medications.
Any advice please??

Gassy and been bloated are related to ibs. Lots of us have that condition on here. Hope your boyfriend recovers soon and glad his medication is working
Sounds like gastritis. Try activated charcoal tablets and something called ‘food grade diatomaceous earth’(Amazon). Will also help heal the lining of his stomach before you can attack with probiotics. Try 1/4 of a teaspoon of the powder (do not inhale, keep it away from the face until it’s absorbed) in a glass of water and then build up slowly every two weeks until you reach 2tbsp. It’s a bit chalky tasting but has numerous benefits. I’m feeling a lot better after taking this and I can see strange things being passed (parasites, perhaps). I wish you both the best of luck .
Can I ask why they put him on Amitriptyline, which seems like an odd choice. It's generally only used for depression or neurological pain conditions. Also, I take it he's been checked for all the obvious things like Crohn's, colitis, diverticulitis and coeliac disease?
