I'm sorry to hear you are feeling bad. I have had those "accidents" too. Are you under the care of a Gastroenterologist? They should be prescribing some type of medication for the Diverticulitis. Especially when it is flaring up. If the medication you are on is not working. I know that with Diverticulitis, you can't eat seeds of any type because they can get trapped in pockets. Have you been diagnosed with IBS..had Colonoscopy?

No had no tests also was feeling really tired and had headache on waking up stomach was gurgling so loudly even my partner heard it also my poo was dark brown to begin with then went yellow

It sounds similar to Borborygmi. I'm not too sure. Dark brown is still a healthy color for stool and the yellow part may be food that was not digested, which can happen sometimes. Are you having any black and Tarry stools? I would get this checked out..Colonoscopy, Cat Scan..or a stool test. Are you under the care of a gastroenterologist or Colon and rectal specialist?

I would see someone a little more specialised in these matters. General practioners don't really specialize in these matters. I would make an appointment with a Gastroenterologist or Colon and rectal specialist..as you are not getting what you need from the Doctor you are seeing now.

I had similar problems for over 2 years and tried everything on the market. Eventually, tried the route of antidepressants for anxiety (not depression). The good news is it has worked - I asked to be prescribed with Amitriptyline 10mg (lowest dosage) which I take an hour before I go to bed in the evening (at 9pm). So far, over the last 2 months, my problems have disappeared, no more wondering how my stomach will react to food. My tablets were prescribed by my Gastroenterologist. When I had approached my doctor, they were reluctant to give me antidepressants as they stated I was not depressed. I hasten to add, before I was prescribed these tablets, I also had lots of tests, colonoscopy, endoscopy and MRI of my bowel which all came back clear.

I am already on antidepressants sertraline this is the first flare up I've had like this I always get bloating n stomach cramps but not all the time

I'm already on 2 anti-anxiety meds, and 3 for depression..I don't think she will prescribe Amitriptyline..since I'm already on a strong cocktail. Also I was pain free no IBS..when I was on Prescribed pain medication. However, anti-Depressants..(some) and pain meds are notorious for causing constipation. It's when I got off pain medication everything went downhill. But thanks. ☺

Yes definitely go for further testing. I've suffered for many years and the flare ups are truly awful. I'm just coming out of one but has I'm getting older they are increasingly more often. Have you thought0 about colonic irrigation? Change in your diet, gluten free? Some doctors are useless and just don't get it. Good luck and keep fighting to be heard x

Is there any possibility that you’ve had a stomach bug this time? Just with the chills and fever...it sounds like norovirus!

It’s very hard for us to know when it’s a flare-up or an actual illness 😞

I know I have been thinking that myself felt nausea at times and had a bad headache for two days before flare up and felt so tired 😴

That’s horrible, I’m so sorry you feel so awful. How long have you been on Sertraline? I’m just wondering, because I tried it and it disagreed with me REALLY badly 😳

Sorry I just reread that - I had a colonoscopy , not colostomy.

Been on them a couple of years

Is that your GP that gave you the diagnosis?

If not, see a specialist -GPs quite often mistaken , I’ve been diagnosed with diverticulitis since November and have had nothing like your symptoms.

Mainly cramps down the left abdomen and constipation- good luck and get it sorted, worrying makes it worse
