Earlier Part of Morning in the Loo

Thanks for all your replies. Seems many of you have similar experience of being in and out of the loo for first part of the morning. I have an early morning meeting coming up next week. Plan to eat very little the night before, get up very early, then take an Imodium before I go out. Last year I gave up a regular activity that started at 9am. Reluctant but just too tricky for me. I suppose feeling more confident about doing things later in the day has to be a positive thing.

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who experiences this! I'll have to go to the loo several times before work and I have so much anxiety about being late. I think the anxiety makes it worse. I take an Imodium before bed sometimes for important days as I realised lack of sleep the night before will give me an IBS attack but the Imodium seems to help.

I hope you work out what is best for you and that life gets easier x

You don't have to live like this. I used to have severe IBS-D which used to last for 6 month stretches when I was under stress. I'd be sitting in work wondering when I'd need to rush to the loo. I saw a NHS gastroenterlogist who referred me to a NHS dietician who took me through the fodmap diet. It took a little while and there were few fodmaps that I could tolerate, but what I did find is that my IBS-D completely disappeared. This was even when I was anxious or going through a very stressful time. Have you or anyone who is suffering like this been referred to a dietician and been through the fodmap diet?

I wish you luck, I'm retired now but when working it was a case, like you, of getting up early to give me plenty of time for several loo visits! I also took 2 imodium/loperamide an hour before I left home. I know we're supposed to eat plenty of veg but I can't tolerate it. I seem to be able to eat salad with no problems. It's a case of trial and error. I've also stopped taking vitamins and am much better.
