Urgent calls to the loo!

I manage my IBS quite well most of the time, very careful what I eat.

Recently I have been caught short, very quickly, for instance, I had been to the loo before leaving home, but then felt the need again and had an explosion ( as I call it)

No way could I keep it in!, no time to get anywhere to go!! most embarrassing.

Can anyone suggest something I could take to help matters please?

Hi JV50plus. I’m really sorry this happened. I can’t really offer any advice. But IBS is the worst thing ever. Hope you get some answers and some help.

Hi. I was told for years I had IBS but had a lot of explosions! Anyway, referred to gastro and had tests and it turns out I had bile acid malabsorption. Apparently a lot of people are misdiagnosed with IBS. I had a whole host of tests, one of which was a sehcat scan which diagnosed it. Look at bad-uk.org for info. My doctor had never heard of it! I’m now on binder medication to control it.

Wear adult diapers when you go out

I have got some now, and did wear them, but actually never needed them thankfully.I will need a bigger size jeans though, they are very bulky! Thank you.

I'm the same as you but I was told by the consultant the bowel has a memory and it does seem to remember to explode in the house or on the doorstep. Going anywhere I take lots of imodium more than recommend dose out of shear fear. Recently got caught out walking back from shops luckily on my own but totally disgusting had to bin another pair knickers. Can not keep wearing bulky tenna pants. Any way way I hope you can find something that helps you as GP haven't a clue and anybody who is not affected by this. 💜

Hi, I've had similar problems, twice now I've woken up to find I've had a very loose accident in the bed. So humiliating.....am now exhausted as I'm too scared to go to sleep in case it happens again, don't know what to do

Sorry to hear that. It does make one wary of going anywhere! I'm at a ball tonight, no where to hide in that dress! am going prepared, taking Imodium before I go to see if that helps!Perhaps get some incontinence pants to wear in bed, not very sexy, but you perhaps wont worry as much if you'r covered in that area, after a few better nights sleep, you will relax, and then perhaps do away with them. Good luck.
