Hi

Does anyone else suffer from popping in the stomach like it us being flicked from the inside and excessive and I mean excessive uncontrollable noisy flatulence? It us ruining my life as I’m embarrassed to go anywhere as I constantly have wind or need the loo. Is this IBS? No diarrhoea though!

Yes I do all the time. I have started to take gaviscon which seems to help me

Although you don't have diarrhoea, do you have several small bowel movements throughout the day? If so, it's called incomplete evacuation and it's quite likely that because you've forever got stool stuck in your bowel that's the cause of the flatulence.

You could try taking a laxative to see if that helps shift things through your system more easily.

Yes I tried that but after a couple of days I had the same problem back. As soon as I eat anything the popping and wind starts up again

Keep trying different brands of laxative as you may hit on one that works better than others. Also you could give suppositories or mini-enemas a go.

Generally the wind is possibly poor gut bacteria balance. Either that or you are eating or drinking the wrong things or in excess or at the wrong times.

I had ibs for many years and for initial relief I would use buscopan. Long term some kind of meberevine tablets.

If you want it sorted properly you may need some good bacteria from yogurts like activia which will put more good bacteria in.

Personally I use something called Bimuno daily which was invented in the uk at the university of reading I believe. It is a tasteless powder you can add to drinks. ( best with a coffee I find) Which feeds your own bacteria. Never had ibs since I started them 3 years ago. I do a month on it and a month off it. But each to thier own. Stress of course is also a factor. And I also firmly believe if you have lower back problems it can trigger ibs. Though doctors don't think so. there are also a lot of foods to avoid with ibs. Not always the ones you might think. I think there is a diet sheet called food mops. Which gives a list.
