Hi all!
I'm just looking for some advice really. I'm going for a full colonoscopy + botox treatment on an unhealed fissure (and anything else they might find) on the 11th of June, so a week on Tuesday. I've had 2 scopes in the past (full colonoscopy June 2016, flexi Sig Dec 2017.) I've had fecal calprotectin tests done and the blood test for bowel cancer. They all came back fine. The gastro doctor still wants to do a full scope as I'm having some non typical IBS symptoms which have been going on for ages now (2 years on and off). They include extreme stomach pains, seriously alternating bowel habits (constipation for 5/6 days then Diorrehra where I'll go 7+ times a day), and a lot of blood and mucus in my stool- more recently black blood. I've tried all medication under the sun and nothing has given me any relief really except Constella which there's currently a manufacturing problem with in the UK. Anyway, I'm just looking for a bit of advice really. I'm going to be under a general anaesthetic, so therefore I won't feel the pain during procedure which is good. But when I had the flexi sig done the last time I was in so much pain on my return home it was debilitating. I couldn't stand up. I had to get help to go to the bathroom, I couldn't do anything. I had to phone out of hours at 3am. I was maxed out on paracetamol and Ibuprofen. I'm talking about pain in my back passage BTW. I'm now getting so so worried I'll be the same. It wasn't painful straight away, I was fine in the hospital. It was only on returning home it gradually got worse over a few hours. Does anybody have any advice, should I mention this at my pre assessment? Also has anybody ever had botox treatment on a fissure, what should I expect, what's recovery like etc?
Thanks everyone
