There is a black box warning for Movicol also called "PEG" "Laxido" "GoLytely" "Miralax" "Clearlax". This is not a good laxative, and it's sad Doctor's are aware but still prescribe it like candy: Here is a link to black box warning:

Some of us have to take this and are aware it's not ideal. No laxative is ideal - there are plenty of studies into the negative long term effects of senna use, but it's all about choice and balance. I have to take movicol - nothing else suits me, and I don't want to raise my anxiety levels by googling. I understand you are trying to help - but actually this does the opposite.

I understand..we have to take whatever works for us. I completely understand..I have to take Senna. I know what you mean..

I with you binks. I have to take Laxido everyday. And I have anxiety disorder, so I don’t need to know how bad this is for me. I used to take Fybogel, but it just bunged me up. Laxido works for me - one sachet a day, but I often forget to take it at weekends 😂. I had quite a sore tummy on it at first, but it’s fine now. You have to drink plenty when you take laxatives too. Dreadful laxative ... I was prescribed this and i was so desperate I continued using it. Now I have a weak bowel that is incapable of defecation. If id known the damage it was causing id never have taken it in the first place. That was a disagreement with the g.p.

Are you talking about Miralax or Laxido/Movicol? Sorry..

Laxido and movical. Dont take them anymore as im now really nervous of them. Sort term I guess they're probably ok but long term .... well if I could go back I wouldn't have used it at all. Just my personal experience but then as I see from the other posts sometimes this is the only thing that works or can tolerate. Unfortunately only you will be able to tell what is right for you. You have my sympathy its a miserable condition for so many and in many different ways. Lets hope you find what might help you soon.

I don't take them. I'm not the original poster.

Thank you, but I'm not looking for pity. We in some way or another are on here, including you, because we are all suffering to a certain extent. Mine might be worse or better than someone else's. Someone also has it worse. I just have constipation. I'm not dying.

I didn't intend to sound harsh! Worry just goes with the territory - and I am not happy about taking movicol (half a sachet every night) but after major prolapse surgery 10 years ago my gut transit slowed down! I get the least side effects from movicol than anything else and I take a fibogel every morning which mitigates the unreliability of the movicol.

It's okay. I was trying to help but realize it looked like negativity instead. So sorry. I didn't mean any harm. I'm glad it's working for you..☺👍
