Hi, I have chronic cramping in my lower left side and although I have been to the toilet yesterday small amounts and today even smaller, the cramping is worse. I have a sachet of picolax here do you think that it would be able to work on constipation to alleviate any residual constipation and take the pain away. This pain only stops when the bowel is empty and can go on for hours. In the past I have taken Movicol 4 sachets daily but this was great for a few days but couldn't leave the house. then they reduced the movicol to one sachet and even though I went to the toilet the pain was excruciating when going. I am now back to the start. I have diverticulitis and I just want something to get rid of the poo quickly. Thanks.

Hi there, I also had terrible pain in my left side this week along with 5 days of constipation. I have managed to get my system going again finally today with flax seed oil and fresh prunes. I realise with diverticulitis you have to be careful with foods, but thought I would share just incase you are able to take either. I have also been told psyllium husks are great for helping constipation, but having had a good up read about them I decided to try the flax seed oil first. I may try the psyllium husks once my gut had healed from this bout.
perhaps have a read up about these before you take any of them though.
Hey beatbox - how did you get on? What did you decide to do? I hope you’re ok.
I’m going to my GP tomorrow because I’ve had IBS all my life, but the last few years have been IBS-C. I have a lot of pain on my left side (from my waist downwards) - I was wondering if you think I now have diverticulitis too? Xx
Hi, have you had any testing for possible diverticulitis or enlarged spleen? Recent Colonoscopy. I too have this problem. Usually after I take Senna - a laxative. I think it is from our intestines being worked a lot from ridding of the constipation. I also had an upper and lower GI barium follow through. Another good test. I think mine is coming from a cyst found on my spleen pressing on something. I hate it. Frustrating, I know. Sorry for my delayed response.
