Living with ibs and back condition
Hi Mark1976, sorry to hear your suffering so badly. I to have IBS and suffer severe pain in my stomach, I was also taking Mebeverine and found it didn't help but now taking Alverine which helps a bit more. You should see if your Gp could prescribe that to you. Hope you feel a but better soon.
Hi Mark
I haven’t got any answers for you apart from to offer support as I also have both conditions and they aggregate each other constantly. If one plays up in a severe way then the other one does the same!
I’ve tried all sorts of things over the years and not found anything that actually works as such. Lots of things help. I’m on Amitriptyline for the IBS pain but like you nothing really eases the back pain. Hang on in there!
When my stomach aches because of my ibs I eat bananas, works every time for me. Try eating a banana every morning and another if it flares up, might work for you, might not.
Good luck.
Try going off carbs and see if it helps your stomach.
Hi, sorry to hear about your problems. I’ve been taking Naproxen for a back problem, together with Lansoprazole, to protect my stomach, the latter seems to have helped my IBS considerably, together with the FODMAP diet. I hope this helps.
Just started following this group - I have IBS and rheumatoid arthritis. Was put on Naproxen for the joint pain before my RA was diagnosed and I too found that it helped with the IBS - I was so much better whilst on it, though I don't really know why. I was taken off it when put onto proper RA meds - so now back to square one with the IBS. Can't go back on Naproxen as not suitable with the RA meds. But the respite was nice while it lasted!
