The hell of living with IBS.

I have suffered with IBS for years but only got properly diagnosed about 7 years ago. I have tried everything to combat the effects and can only pass on what has worked for me in the past. Throw away Buscapan and all the yakults/ and probiotics drinks as they are useless. The only probiotic thats works costs approx £50-£70 a month is called Symprove. Tastes vile but it worked for two years for me. This is the only probiotic which survives the bile and gut juices which kills all the live good bacteria before it even reaches the stomach. The new drug I am on now is Audmonal 60 mg capsules which I take 3 time a day. They have been great in lowering the spasm pain. I also take an anti-depressant called Sertraline 100mg one a day. Most the time I can keep on top of it but last week I had one of the worst bouts ever. Its hard to live a stress free life so I am positive this brought it on. My cure was to take an Eygptian medicine called Antinal which is a broad spectrum intestinal antiseptic. These are my tips but trust me I never leave the house without Imodium Instants. Its not pleasant its all trial and error for life.

I found ur comment interesting as i havnt heard of these remedies before. Well done you for finding something that helps! Personally im ok sometimes and eat what i like but this tends to lead to some kind of shocking build up once every 3 or so months and i can get quite ill and have to eat very little. Going through this at the moment but refuse to do restrictive diets because im stubborn and adore food socially and privately and i guess iv learned to live with it iv had it so long. My latest trigger was a drink of irn bru resulting in chronic ibs-d. Lovely!!
