Itchy hell

Hi all I'm at the end of my rope. I have rectal itching for 6 years daily and nothing is working. I'm convinced it's worms or parasites but colonoscopy and 3 day parasite test say no. I dint think it prutuis ani I feel such a strong urge to itch and its deep internal wriggling and scratch everytime . Drs won't do anymore tests any ideas? I've tried all the creams and only thing I haven't done is a microbiome gut test. I feel better after a bm but I want this over amd drs say I have to live with it Can't take another day

Contra21, your itching may have a basis from hypochlorhydria ...low stomach acid. A step in addressing it is to improve communications from the brain to the stomach through the vagus nerve with B vitamins especially thiamine. Thiamine needs adequate magnesium to become bio active and supplementing with fat soluble thiamine such as TTFD, benfotiamine or sulbutiamine offers greater absorption and higher levels crossing the blood brain barrier. Zinc is also needed for stomach acid so a supplement may be needed. These links offer additional information for understanding the digestive system. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.

I totally agree, that's what usually causes it.

I read Elliot Overton’s work and FOR me thiamine was extremely helpful.

I had a parasite several months ago. No idea how I caught it. It was at the same time as a terrible Ulcerative Colitis flare up, so extremely upsetting and gross. I was getting the itching symptoms occasionally in the night. This is when the female worm is active and laying eggs apparently. I found out because I passed an empty skeletal remain of a parasite. My GP prescribed the over the counter tablets. Like someone above said, you can just buy the tablets at the chemist to kill any parasites. That would eliminate the parasite theory.

HiContra21. I am sorry I cannot offer any practical advice but wanted you to know I have exactly the same problem. It drives me insane. Once it starts nothing stops it. I try to accept the fact that I have to deal with it but gosh it is difficult sometimes. ❤️

Me too did you do all the tests?

Like you I've had this come and go for many years and nearly driven me mad. My daughter use to get it also until she used this cream. Ask your GP for Canesten Hydrocortisone Cream on prescription. Its the only thing that has worked for me and given me relief and it works immediately. Touch wood I have had it for a long time now and is so soothing. Best Wishes

Didn't help

Look into lichen sclerosus, an autoimmune disease that usually affects labial area but can also affect anus. Causes severe itching and a number of other problems including thinning and fusing.

Hi I used to suffer with the same thing on a regular basis it used to wake me up at night like a prickling more than an itching for me. I tried creams worm treatment etc the only thing that stopped it temporarily was if I pressed a piece of tissue on the area 🤷‍♀️ bizarre I know. I'm on medication for chronic constipation now and touch wood I've only had the odd episode so I'm not sure if mine was something to do with straining although I didn't have piles. I hope you get some relief it really does drive you mad 😪

My itch is daily. Sometimes itch 4 times a day. Only relief is to scratch. I'm so sick feel like I've tried everything

No. They just kept saying it was pruritus ani. The one thing I have found to be of a little relief is a gel product called Preparation H. It has no nasties in it, but I do have to start using it as soon as it starts up. I also use Preparation H moist toilet wipes. I don’t know if you can get them in the U.S. though. Look it up online and you will be able to see the ingredients. You may have them in your country with a different name.

I had a few months of this when I was younger, but not as long as that. I just used anusol for it at times, it eventually disappeared. Like a lot of older gents, I use more comfortable larger pants now. If you wear tight ones, these can som.etimes cut down good ventilation. I know itching is really so annoying and stressful hope you get help for it

Hi Contra21,

I had my gut microbiome checked and had own probiotics made by Floré. One of the best things I’ve ever done. I paid. I’m a coeliac who did not respond, got worse, had undiagnosed and untreated case of SIBO.

Contra21 profile image
Contra21 in reply toNarwhal10

Because you had itchy backside also?

Narwhal10 profile image
Narwhal10 in reply toContra21

No contra21,

I searched to see who had gut microbiome checked, this thread came up. lots of gastrointestinal symptoms, Pruritus ani. Had colonoscopy, gut transit and still knew something was very wrong. There in black and white a report far too much of this and that bad bacteria.

Thankyou, tests are over 1000 dollars so I will save up again

I have had anu-puritis which is itchy backside which is exasperated by toilet movement, walking, hot weather so it starts from being itchy to really hurting and if you have not the medication with you it can turn to blood. Xyloproct Oint

To continue. It soothes the inflamed area very quickly but does not cure it. It contains Hydrocortisone and Lignocaine for pain relief but the trouble is that it is a steroid cream and should be only used for short periods. Rubbish as I have been on it for 7 years and no doctor or specialist has said stop it. As I think I have said it is only available on prescription.

You almost certainly have parasites. I would recommend doing a parasite cleanse. There is a book called The Green Body Cleanse by Edward Group which covers parasite cleansing and will help you tremendously. I have been parasite cleansing for the past 6 months and passed a huge amount of parasites in my stool. I have finally got rid of my parasites and nearly completely cured my IBS. I had 2 stool tests done on the NHS and they both came back negative for parasites, so the tests are useless.

Contra21 in reply tomoozo

Yes! All my parasite testing came out clear. Your saying 6 years I've had parasites. I've taken all meds to to kill parasites, still itchy.
