Chewing my words....

I used to think having IBS-C would be a breeze compared to IBS-D ... well HA!!!! I promise you, those of you with C... that I am taking back all my words! Chewing 'em upl...spittin' 'em out!

To me, my former IBS-C was a pain in the tush (literally!) but it was mainly a terrible nuisance and it change so many of my life long habits.... BUT NOW...It seems like I have 'switched' sides.... and THIS is painful and scary..Scarey because I keep worrying if it could be something else (worse!) .... I am off Wheat now....but I have to start experimenting and see what works for me so I can move things along without miserable pain.... What works for one person doesn't work for another... we all know that regardless of what kind of IBS we have.... So... just thought I'd share this. Part of my 'penance' I guess you might say. :) I hope everyone is having a good day....

You are so right Betty A,

Yes it IS worse....unless it's because we have got used to coping with D.....

Betty try magnesium citrate, that works for a lot of people. If you weren't in the US,I'd tell you to try Normacol, ( nice name isn't it) but if you can get it,it's pure fiber, and natural,I used to take that when I had C bad enough to go to the Hostpital for an enemna, but I don't know if you can get it in the US. Your friend I hope Noma.xx

I have both for going on 13 years now

I take probiotic caps else from America with 50 billion strength which helps with the pain I get a lot if the times and take fibrogel to help keep me regular hope you find a balance as they keep saying one which works for one person doesn't always work for others good luck

hi

dont worry about it being something else. get tests done and you will be reassured.

worry only makes hings worse. try drinking 3 glasses awater a day and normacol works well for those following a low fibre diet.

regards

gff

IBS C is what I have and I too have thought the same! My biggest worry is that IBS could be hiding something else that sinister. We just need to keep a very close eye on when, if they do, symptoms change.

Best of luck

Hi CF! Could I suggest something to you about what you said... the only reason I am saying it is because "Ive been there, done that!" so I am hardly judging or criticizing! I think that 'keeping a close eye' on whatever is, is basically LOOKING for trouble, expecting and fearing the worst... When I do this, this is when I FEEL the worst...

I am doing better right now... seems like (so far! :) ) I have come upon a way of handling this that is working... so I am thankful for that. We can't borrow trouble from the future... Thing is: we usually get what we focus and concentrate upon.... So much is in our personal belief system.

Anyway, we both need to (as a wise person once told me in a post) to 'stop always checking in on yourself'.... Because it truly is nothing but fear motivated even though we usually hide behind "no, I am just doing it out of concern and what's best" .... This is something I am working on right now myself because I need to.

Best of every thing to you! :) I really appreciate your writing what you did because it helped ME to take a better look at things.

Hi Betty - thanks for your reply and I've read all of your reply and there is no way I think you are judging. I had a bit of reason to be concerned recently as I had a problem so had to go to the hospital but everything turned out good. The way I handle IBS is by keeping fit - the one thing that really annoys me though is the fact that there are some vegetables that I can't eat i.e. broccoli, which I love but hey ho! I am naughty with food at times.

One of my problems is if I over exert as this is when the IBS C can sometimes turn into IBS D - this is rare but one example is when I did a Marathon Powerwalk last year in London, I did the 26.2 miles in 6 hours and boy did I suffer. I had to get to a tube station in London and had to go to the toilet several times. I am therefore not taking part in it this year but may do it again but try and prepare myself beforehand i.e. ensure that I have plenty of medication.

Sounds like you are doing well which is really good and I would like to wish you all the very best for the future :)
