Online counselling and psychotherapy sessions

Hi Paul, I've had psychotherapy one on one, face to face.it helped me talk my problems through, but I can't say it helped for IBS,I've also been to group sessions. I've had chronic IBS for years,I've had every test, gastrologist, diet, and meds available nothing has worked. At the end of the month I'm seeing another gastrologist/ hypnotherapist I Beleive this is the last straw,I live in hope. I personally think you are wasting your time and money on line Psychotherapy. But he ho were all different. I think you may learn a lot on this site but don't be taken in by giving your money away. The best of luck to you.
It really depends on the experience of the therapist. £50 for 50 minutes would not be unreasonable.

Hi Paul
I have been having online counselling sessions for a year, as my counselor is based in Edinburgh, an hour away from where I live. The fees started at £45 for 50 mins- some do consider reducing it in some circumstances.
as the others have said around that price seems to be the average, psychologists tend to be much more.
I would not consider it a waste of money from my own experience- but depends what you are looking to get from it- I had things that I needed counseling to help with- so it was not directly for my IBS symptoms but anything that helps you to deal with stressful things going on for you or helps you to cope better with difficulties, will have an impact on your symptoms. Of course as we know- there are so many triggers for IBS so if foods are upsetting your digestion, that needs addressing and counseling will never cure it all, but if it helps you to deal with stresses about things happening in your life or helps you to manage the stress about your condition and helps you to manage your condition in a better way- then it can only help to improve things, in my opinion.
hope that this is helpful
best wishes
Sarah
I've had counselling for depression and would only recommend it on a face-to-face basis - your GP might have some contacts.
Have you tried reflexology ?
Also - what is your reason for wanting counselling ?
